This Video Is Hilarious: The Most Important Question Asked At The SOTU Address? “Who Are You Wearing?”
Almost 10 years ago, I went to a low-key party wearing a yellow shift I’d scored at H&M. It certainly wasn’t a fashion party, and there was no step-and-repeat or red carpet or paparazzi swarm in sight. Still, though, a party-goer approached me in the kitchen and asked a question I’ll never forget: “Who are you wearing?” It was hilarious. Were we really doing that? What’s wrong with a simple “Where’d you get your dress?” The only place this question is warranted is on the red carpet, and even then you’re sort of pushing it. (Sorry, Giuliana.) But to ask it at the State of the Union address? That’s pure brilliance.
Politicians are not known for their style sense, and when a Huffington Post reporter asked them the world’s worst question, most were completely baffled. Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) had no clue what she was talking about, and Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) – had to unbutton his jacket to check. Unsurprisingly, he was wearing Jos. A. Bank. Some answered right away, and even dropped some impressive names. Take Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fl)—a St. John jacket—and Sen. Sherrod Brown—a Hugo Boss suit, which, he felt necessary to note, was “made in Cleveland, Ohio, by union labor.” Thanks, Sher.
Still, the best fashion quote came from Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.), who revealed that he was wearing a puka shell necklace beneath is natty corduroy blazer and sweater vest: “I haven’t taken it off in about 20 years,” he said. “Undercover surfer here.” Can we all agree that Giuliana Rancic and Ryan Seacrest need to start going to every single political event there is. Mani-cam, anyone?
