Twin Openings for Lafayette Hill

Today marks the opening day of both Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery and the reopening of Brittingham’s Irish Pub & Restaurant. It’s a big moment for Lafayette Hill as the two establishments that face each other across Germantown Pike have both been substantially upgraded.

Erin Wallace who owns Devil’s Den and Old Eagle Tavern has overhauled the old General Lafayette Inn. Head Brewer Scott Morrison (a five time medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival) is brewing six house-made brews. Twenty-four other craft beers will be available on draft. Chef Paul Trowbridge has developed a menu of beer-inspired food.

After an extensive renovation, Brittingham’s has transformed itself into a slick indoor-outdoor drinking and dining destination.  Three distinct spaces spill effortlessly from bar to dining room and back again, including the addition of an expansive patio area with indoor-outdoor bar.

Brittingham’s has 24 beers on tap and even has a staff sommelier in Melissa Monosoff.

Outdoors is where the new Brittingham’s really shines. Two fire pits are situated at corners of the building, surrounded by patio seating and a 75-seat rooftop bar.

Chef Joseph Frost who has experience in kitchens that include The Ritz-Carlton, Brasserie Perrier and Georges’ in Wayne, is running the ship here. In addition to the area’s only Raw Bar, other menu sections include:  snacks, flatbreads, appetizers, soups and salads, pub specialties, sandwiches and burgers, fries and sides, adult milkshakes and  dessert.

Sports fans will also be thrilled with the redo. Soccer breakfasts will be available during all English Premier League soccer games as well as other international matches. Brittingham’s will also feature live music in the Elk Bar on weekends.
