Saint Benjamin’s Brewing Co. Needs Your Help

A local nanobrewer, opening his own brewpub, in a historically relevant building, in the ‘hood. That’s my wheelhouse. I love that stuff.

Tim Patton of Saint Benjamin’s Brewing Company, Philadelphia’s first and, for the time being, only nano-brewery, is making moves to open his brewery and pub on North 5th St. in the lovely, scenic Kensington. Why there? The warehouse was once the carriage house of the Theo Finkenauer Brewing Company in the late 1800s. In fact, Kensington, and much of the rest of North Philly, was at one point the hotbed for breweries in this country, but the times changed the neighborhood, and Patton hopes to bring back what once defined this area’s character.

Patton is crowdfunding the construction and facade redevelopment of the historic building though Lucky Ant. $20,000 in 21 days is the goal and in exchange, contributors will receive free merchandise, free food, and even half your bill paid for by the brewpub for life (if you’re willing to put up the right amount of money).
