Java Jiggle: How Many Calories Are in That Syrup, Anyway?

While we had city baristas on the phone, we checked out the calorie stats. See what you’re really adding to that cup

After calling more than 60 area coffee shops and cafes, three syrup brands kept popping up. So we checked out their calorie stats below. Keep in mind that, on average, we were told that a small coffee gets about one pump, a medium two, and a large three. Which means you could easily be adding anywhere from 100 to 300 calories of sweet stuff to every cup. And if you’re drinking one daily (or, let’s be honest here, more than one), that can add up to a whopping amount of calories.

Of course, asking for a single pump or even a half-pump of your favorite flavor can go a long way in cutting down the calories — without resorting to artificial sweeteners that have been linked to weight gain — so speak up!
