The Eagles hope to stay in the NFC playoff hunt as they host the Washington Redskins in the team’s first NFC East game at home this season. The Eagles look to go 6-7 on the season and win their first division game of the year. The Redskins are currently on the outside of the NFC playoff picture after losing to the Arizona Cardinals last week. We’ll periodically update this thread throughout the game with highlights and drive summaries. Feel free to jump in the comments below.

4:12 – END OF THE GAME: Wentz fumbles the ball after Ryan Kerrigan sacks him inside the Washington red zone. The Redskins escape with a 27-22 win over the Eagles. The Eagles fall to 5-8 on the season. Instant Observations from the heartbreaking loss.

4:10 – Eagles use their final timeout with 26 seconds left at the Redskins’ 14 yard line.

4:05 – The Eagles are driving past midfield with about a minute to go.

4:02 – TOUCHDOWN: Chris Thompson goes to the left and takes it 25 yards to the house for the go-ahead touchdown. Cousins throws behind Jordan Reed on the two-point try. The Redskins lead the Eagles, 27-22, with 1:53 left in the game.

3:58 – Refs may have missed a delay of game on fourth down against the Redskins, but they get the timeout. Cousins finds Garcon for the first down.

3:51 – Jalen Mills gets bailed out by a big Rodney McLeod hit on Jamison Crowder to force an incompletion. Or we think. Jay Gruden is challenging the call.

3:45 – FIELD GOAL: Sturgis makes a 41-yard field goal with Trey Burton snapping. The Eagles lead the Redskins, 22-21, with 4:59 to play.

3:43 – Eagles try to go on fourth-and-one, but Wentz calls timeout. Big decision in Redskins territory. A 41-yard field goal is the other possibility with what could be Burton as the long snapper.

3:42 – Trey Burton is also practicing long snapping.

3:38 – Brent Celek is questionable to return with a stinger. Mychal Kendricks is practicing snapping.

3:32 – Deshazor Everett drills Darren Sproles in the head, while Sproles didn’t call a fair catch. Sproles is down on the field but gets back up and walks to the locker room. It’s a 15-yard penalty on the Redskins after a scrum ensues. Ryan Mathews is the team’s only running back.

3:27 – Jamison Crowder makes a great catch, but Doug Pederson has thrown his second challenge flag. The call of the field is reversed.

3:26 – This could be a problem for the Eagles.

3:22 – TOUCHDOWN: Leodis McKelvin intercepts a Cousins pass intended for DeSean Jackson and takes it to the house for 29 yards. Eagles go for two and Josh Norman breaks up a Jordan Matthews catch. Redskins lead the Eagles, 21-19, with 13:11 left.

3:19 – Celek snaps to Jones for a punt and gets shaken up by a hit to the head. He’s with trainers. Not sure who the third string long snapper is, but it may be Trey Burton.

3:11 – TOUCHDOWN: Cousins finds Garcon on a 15-yard fade. Jay Gruden calls a ton of fades inside the red zone. Hopkins makes the extra point, and the Redskins lead the Eagles, 21-13, with seven seconds left in the third quarter.

3:09 – Redskins are inside the Eagles’ 10 yard line.

2:59 – With Celek snapping, it goes low to Donnie Jones as the holder, and the Redskins pounce on the punter. Injuries have hurt the Eagles this game.

2:33 – Third quarter is underway. Get caught up with some observations from the first half.

2:20 – An interesting halftime read: According to Marc Narducci of the Inquirer, the Temple Owls have contacted Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo about their vacant head coaching job.

2:19 – END OF THE FIRST HALF: The Eagles lead the Redskins, 13-7, after a late Darren Sproles touchdown catch. The Redskins will have the ball to begin the second half.

2:15 – TOUCHDOWN: Wentz finds Darren Sproles on a fade for a four-yard pass. A Sturgis PAT gives the Eagles a 13-7 lead with only 28 seconds left to play in the half.

2:12 – The Eagles are inside the 10 with less than a minute to go.

2:04 – Maybe Pederson was right not to challenge the Garcon catch:

2:01 – The fans aren’t happy.

1:57 – TOUCHDOWN: Rob Kelley goes right up the gut for a 22-yard score. Doug Pederson fails to challenge a nine-yard pass to Pierre Garcon two plays prior. Hopkins makes the PAT. The Redskins lead the Eagles, 7-6, with 4:11 left in the first half.

1:21 – Eagles are back in Redskins territory after a pass interference call on Quinton Dunbar.

1:18 – An interesting development in the Brandon Brooks saga:

1:16 – The Eagles force Washington to punt. But Darren Sproles collides with C.J. Smith on the punt return and Sproles appears to be a little banged up. He’s back in on offense.

1:14 – A mayor get together: Jim Kenney is with Bismark, North Dakota mayor Mike Seminary at today’s game.

1:11 – FIELD GOAL: Eagles try to get the Redskins offsides on fourth down, but Wentz calls a timeout. Caleb Sturgis kicks a 45-yard field goal. The Eagles lead the Redskins, 3-0, with 9:46 left in the opening quarter.

1:08 – The Eagles are driving early on their first drive. Passes to Zach Ertz and Jordan Matthews have them in Washington territory near the 30.

1:03 – With Kenjon Barner inactive, Wendell Smallwood and Paul Turner are back deep to return the kickoff. We’re underway at the Linc. Smallwood returns it to the Eagles 27 yard line.

1:02 – Redskins win the coin toss and defer to the second half. The Eagles will start with the ball.
