Mychal Kendricks, Mike Martin, Jordan Matthews, Jalen Mills, Hunter Sharp and Carson Wentz will not play in the Eagles’ second preseason game in Pittsburgh on Thursday, Doug Pederson announced Tuesday morning. Wentz, however, will travel for the game, as will Dorial Green-Beckham, whom the Eagles recently traded for.

Pederson labeled Wentz as “day-to-day” for when he’ll return to practice, although the head coach added that he thinks the quarterback would be ready if the team had to play a regular season game this week. He also explained why Wentz will travel with the team, while the other injured players will not.

“The reason why is he’s a quarterback and I want him involved in every single meeting so we don’t stunt his growth,” Pederson said, “and I want to continue that whole process with him.”

Allen Barbre will take Lane Johnson’s spot at right tackle with the first-team offense, while Isaac Seumalo will play left guard. Sam Bradford, as well as the entire first unit, is expected to play for at least the first quarter, and potentially half of the second quarter. It’s unclear how much Johnson will play, but he has worked with the second-team offense at right tackle in every practice since the first preseason game.

It’s also unclear when Green-Beckham will begin practicing with the Eagles, but he will not play on Thursday. Kendricks, who was expected to return to practice last Saturday, may return next week, according to Pederson.
