Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams announced today that he won’t bring criminal charges against Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor, who was accused of sexually assaulting a dancer at Cheerleaders Gentlemen’s Club last month.

Williams released the following statement on the case:

The District Attorney’s Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit and detectives from the Philadelphia Police Department’s Special Victims Unit thoroughly investigated the allegations of sexual assault against Nelson Agholor. As a result of this joint investigation, our staff and the Police reached the conclusion that we lacked sufficient evidence to bring charges against Mr. Agholor, therefore no charges will be filed.

A 27-year-old dancer at the South Philadelphia club told police that she was assaulted by Agholor in early June. Agholor and teammates Fletcher Cox and Connor Barwin visited Cheerleaders after the team wrapped up its final spring practice.

Agholor’s attorney, Fortunato “Fred” Perri Jr., maintained that the 23-year-old hadn’t committed any crimes. Perri told Philadelphia magazine a few weeks ago that Agholor was staying with family while the investigation unfolded, and was “doing the best he possibly can.”

NJ.com has reported that the dancer’s allegations stemmed from a dispute over money; other Eagles beat reporters suggested that Agholor had been the victim of a set-up.

The resolution of the case comes with the Eagles just a week away from the start of training camp.
