The Eagles agreed to terms with five of their draft picks — Blake Countess, Alex McCalister, Jalen Mills, Wendell Smallwood and Joe Walker — on four-year deals, the team announced Wednesday evening. That leaves Carson Wentz, Isaac Seumalo and Halapoulivaati Vaitai unsigned.

Smallwood seems capable of carving out a niche for himself in third-down situations early on because of his pass blocking and receiving ability, while Countess and Mills could compete for the nickel corner position, although it’s unclear if either of them could add safety depth instead. McCalister could make the team because of his pass-rushing potential, and Walker has been classified as someone who could play nickel linebacker.

In addition to the pending Wentz, Seumalo and Vaitai contracts, the Eagles are expected to announce their undrafted free agent signings soon as well.
