The Eagles placed Andrew Gardner on injured reserve after he left the Jets game early with a foot injury Sunday. Gardner earned the starting right guard spot in training camp after the departures of Evan Mathis and Todd Herremans.

The team also officially announced they placed Cody Parkey on IR and signed Caleb Sturgis and Julian Vandervelde.

This season, Philadelphia ranks 30th in both rushing yards per game and yards per carry, largely because of offensive line struggles. According to Pro Football Focus, however, Gardner graded as the Eagles’ best run blocker against the Jets, marking the third game in a row he graded positively in that department.

Matt Tobin replaced Gardner against New York, but earned a -1.3 grade in his 32 snaps.

Gardner started eight games last season after the offensive line was plagued with injuries, and signed a three-year contract extension earlier this month. Tobin is expected to replace Gardner as the starting right guard.
