The Eagles have waived center/guard Julian Vandervelde with an injury settlement, the team announced.

The roster is now down to 75 players. NFL teams have to cut down to 53 by 4 p.m. Saturday.

Vandervelde, originally a fifth-round pick in 2011, had back surgery earlier this summer. The 26-year old was the Eagles’ backup center in 2013. As friend of the blog Sam Lynch points out, this move makes Vandervelde eligible to re-sign with the Eagles if and when he gets healthy in the coming weeks.

As for Jason Kelce’s backup, the Eagles will count on David Molk. The 2012 seventh-round pick spent his rookie season on the Chargers’ active roster, but was eventually let go and was out of football last season. He has held up well in the preseason.
