Veteran cornerback Walter Thurmond signed with the Giants this offseason and met with reporters today.

Thurmond plays on the inside and doesn’t think anyone in the league is better than him in that role.

"I'm the best slot corner in the league, for sure. I'll tell you that," Thurmond said, via NJ.com.

The Eagles, of course, have a pretty good slot corner themselves in Brandon Boykin.

Boykin then retweeted a few of the responses he received.

That, obviously, is not true. Boykin has been pushing to get a shot playing on the outside, but the coaches seem to view him as purely an inside corner. The Eagles' CB responded to Thurmond:

"I don't start on the outside.. My stats are probably what confused u though. I understand."

And so that's that. Thanks to Boykin and Thurmond for providing some entertainment on an otherwise slow Tuesday.

Oh boy, I can’t wait for Chip to toast these corners. Outside zone to DRCs side all day.

    • myeaglescantwin

      seriously.

Thats how we should start the first quarter of every game.. by running over the corners.

CB’s are little tiny pre-madona’s.. if you crush them enough. they will quit.
hell one good shot will take DRC out of the game.. Especially when Kelce is driving him into the dirt.

      • B-West

Haha. Prima donnas?? Sorry to laugh, but this makes me think of when i get busted for singing a song lyric incorrectly for years.

        • myeaglescantwin

          hahaha i’d rather know

makes more sense that my “before Madona”

  • Maggie

Another admirable quality about Boykin. A sense of humor and an appreciation of the absurd.

  • Burberry Manning

Lol let him know Boykin and that outfit is horrible give him some wardrobe tips

  • cliff henny

swear that’s a pic of David Allen Grier from ‘In Living Color. I give it 2 snaps and a swirl

    • Adam G

I personally would go with 3 snaps in Z formation.

    • borntosuffer

I was thinking more, “two circles and a snap”. I miss “Men on Film”. I miss the fly girls too.

      • Maggie

I miss comedy on TV that was actually funny.

  • Amar (India)

Thurmond means to say, you can’t do both (Be the best nickel corner and have higher aspirations). He fits the Giants perfect !

  • JofreyRice

I generally like Thurmond’s game, but he was about the only Seahawk that looked like doodoo in the Super Bowl. He’s not better than Boykin, no damn way.

    • http://www.corcommunity.com/ theycallmerob

I’m amazed he gets any game in that outfit

  • Gil

NEWSFLASH……Both Nfl.com and also CBS sports.com just reported that NFL complete schedule will be shown at 8pm Wednesday (tomorrow night)…….why doesn’t any Philly site have this info yet?

    • http://www.corcommunity.com/ theycallmerob

because Tim and Sheil have lives and families?

      • gil

So they stop reporting after 5pm?
What is this a little 2 person mom and pop site?
How about working rotating shifts, one guy works 9-5pm….the other guy works 5pm to midnight?

        • http://www.corcommunity.com/ theycallmerob

go back to ESPN you f****** troll

          • gil

wow you really tough and scary in your own little mind……go take your meds you old fart.

          • G_WallyHunter

Hahahaha please do yourself a favour and return to whatever other site meets your standards

          • planetx1971

Hey Gil, i’m willing to bet that Rob deposits far more interesting and knowledgeable “nuggets” on the can every morning, than you do at any given point in your day…..

        • Zachary Kahn

You do realize you’re talking about the best Eagles blog there is right? Maybe even one of the best sports blogs period. Tim and Sheil do an outstanding job.

      • Johnny Domino

Or maybe it’s not that important, really. Haven’t they been teasing this rollout for a week? I, for one, could wait until morning.

    • anon

B/c it’s non news. 24/7 does slow down in the evening despite the name, but if you want late night article go to iggles

  • DC

Hey Walt, ask your new teammate Victor Cruz who the best slot CB is: http://i.minus.com/ibgT0XyyhUIoRS.gif

    • mtn_green

      That’s almost dawkins-esque!!

  • anon

Its always hard for me to argue against a guy with a ring – Boykin should be looking at game tape instead of watching TV. #getaringfirst

    • UWotM8

What are you talking about? The only thing that Thurmond contributed towards that ring was getting suspended for substance abuse, which allowed Maxwell to start in his place.

    • http://www.corcommunity.com/ theycallmerob

      Reaally hope.that’s sarcasm

    • Koala

There are a lot of back up centers and Long snappers in the league who are obviously the BEST back up centers and the BEST long snappers in the league due to number of rings they have. Arguments settled.

  • SteveH

“I don’t start on the outside.. My stats are probably what confused u though. I understand.”

    Owned.

  • Token

typical Flyers…… Im not gonna try to say they are good enough to do much in the playoffs anyhow, but they had at least a shot in this series. But the backup had one solid game and they may have just lost the series because they fell in love with one game.

Emery is the backup for good reason. He came in and did what a backup is supposed to do and gave you a solid game 2. But you ALWAYS go back to your clear #1 goalie if hes able. And he dressed tonight so IMO hes able.

Ray let in 3 brutal goals tonight. You dont do the play the hot hand crap in goal. When your #1 is ready he starts end of story.

  • Pennguino

    Not a bad haul

    Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 22: Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State (A)
Round 2 Pick 22: Dee Ford, DE, Auburn (A)
Round 3 Pick 22: Keith McGill, CB, Utah (B+)
Round 4 Pick 22: Daniel McCullers, DT, Tennessee (A)
Round 5 Pick 30 (S.F.): Ross Cockrell, CB, Duke (C)
Round 7 Pick 22: Spencer Long, OG, Nebraska (B-)
Round 7 Pick 30 (S.F.): Jonathan Dowling, FS, Western Kentucky (B-)

    • planetx1971

Wouldn’t be a bad haul but I just don’t see Dee Ford falling that far. Attauchu maybe or Marcus Smith. I’d be happy with either. Cooks likely will be gone too sadly. I’d love it if we had a chance to grab Ol’ Dirty Beckham personally. Just PLEASE not Kelvin Benjamin. Anyone else would be OK with me outta the top guys…

  • Jerry Pomroy

Boykin all day long. The starts aren’t even close and Thurmond’s got 2 extra years on Boykin.

    Boykin – 71 total tackles, 23 PDef, 6 INTs (1 TD), 1 Sack.

    Thurmond – 67 total tackles, 15 PDef, 1 INT, 1 Sack.

Did I mention that Thurmond has been in the league 2 more years than Boykin??

    • Maggie

      Good comparison.

    • Zachary Kahn

Yeah not to mention the giant disparity between the defences they played on.

    • EagleDuck

Thurmond was recovering from knee surgery his first year, not sure he played a down as a rookie… Still, Boykin rocks him.

    • planetx1971

Cold hard stats nake the very best argument. They speak for themselves. WELL DONE……

    • planetx1971

DAMMIT!! You beat me to it! lol Cannot WAIT to see Boykings stats afer 2 more seasons!

  • Andy124

“I don’t start on the outside.. My stats are probably what confused u though. I understand.”

I think I’ll post this once a day for the next couple weeks, it’s just that good.

    • G_WallyHunter

And ill upvote it every day

  • planetx1971

If less stats are more, then yes, Thurmond is FAR superior! #Boyking!

  • planetx1971

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbaCPtvoo6s

CRAPPY quality! But the play and Jerrah’s reaction is worth it!
