Observations: Vikings 48, Eagles 30

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles at Minnesota Vikings

Here’s what we saw during the Eagles’ 48-30 loss to the Vikings.

OFFENSE

* The Eagles' offense turned in an uneven performance and ultimately couldn't keep up with the Vikings. Chip Kelly employed a pass-happy game-plan as Nick Foles completed 30 of 48 passes for 428 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. He was also the Eagles' leading rusher with 41 yards on the ground.

* LeSean McCoy carried the ball just eight times for 38 yards - a week after setting the franchise record for rushing yards in a game with 217. Overall, the Eagles called 56 pass plays and nine runs.

* The Eagles went into the fourth quarter having cut the lead to 27-22. But they went three-and-out on their next two possessions with the margin of error already tiny. The Vikings took advantage, built their lead back up and ended up winning, 48-30.

* The Eagles only ran 27 first-half plays and failed to get in the end zone. Foles had a costly illegal blocking penalty in the second, negating an 18-yard TD run by DeSean Jackson. Kelly decided to go for it on 4th-and-1 from the Vikings' 18 and ran a double reverse. Jackson had room, but Foles was called for the peel-back block on Minnesota's linebacker.

* In the fourth quarter, with the ball at their own 24, the Eagles decided to go for it on 4th-and-1. McCoy was stopped. Kelly challenged the spot, but the call was upheld. It looked like McCoy might have had the first down on 3rd-and-1. Minnesota kicked a field goal on its ensuing possession.

* Jackson had a monster game with 10 catches for 195 yards and a score. Zach Ertz made a spectacular grab for a touchdown in the third quarter. Ertz and Chris Polk both had drops. Jason Avant was called for a pass interference early. He later had a touchdown.

* After a touchdown late, the Eagles had to waste a timeout before getting the offense on the field for the two-point conversion.

DEFENSE

* The Eagles' defense turned in what was probably its most disastrous performance of the season. The Vikings played with a third-string running back, but Matt Cassel lit the Birds up for 382 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He completed 26 of 35 passes and also ran for a touchdown.

* The Eagles allowed points on three of four first-half possessions. The only exception was a missed field goal by the Vikings. On Minnesota's second possession, Cassel avoided pressure from Trent Cole and Fletcher Cox, stepping up in the pocket before hitting Greg Jennings for a 57-yard TD. Jennings appeared to have beaten Patrick Chung on the play. Chung was pulled from the game for Kurt Coleman. Jennings had a monster game with 11 receptions for 163 yards and a score.

* Later in the first half, Bradley Fletcher was whistled for a questionable pass interference penalty in the end zone. Instead of kicking a field goal, the Vikings got the ball at the Eagles' 1 and ran it in for a touchdown. Fletcher had a nightmarish game. He gave up a completion on 3rd-and-11 late and was also whistled for another pass interference call. In the third quarter, Fletcher gave up a 42-yard completion to Jarius Wright. The Vikings then called a QB draw, and Cassel ran right up the middle for a 6-yard score.

* Bennie Logan was the Eagles' most active defensive player, pressuring Cassel on a couple of occasions in the first half. In the second half, he deflected a Cassel pass that was intercepted by Mychal Kendricks.

* In the third, Kendricks gave up a completion to Chase Ford, and Colt Anderson missed a tackle, allowing it to turn into a 37-yard gain. Kendricks jumped in front of Ford on the play. It looked like the ball went right through his hands. Anderson was in the game because the Eagles went with a three-safety look (Chung, Nate Allen) after Brandon Boykin got injured.

* In the fourth, Cary Williams got called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and then gave up a touchdown on the next play. He also got beat by Jennings on a 31-yard completion off a double-move earlier in the half.

* The Eagles' pass-rush was non-existent for most of the game. Connor Barwin had a sack on one play early where Cassel ran out of bounds. Kendricks and DeMeco Ryans also had sacks, but there was no consistent pressure.

* Coleman and Boykin both suffered injuries and did not return.

* The Eagles' plan for dealing with dangerous returner Cordarrelle Patterson was to not kick to him. But that meant a series of short kicks that gave Minnesota excellent field position.

Despite what they have said and did all week, this team is clearly looking ahead to Chicago and Dallas. Still, only a 1 score deficit and the Eagles can move the ball against ANYONE. We will all be laughing about this in two hours

  • Maggie

After reading this I’m almost glad I can’t see this game. What happened? They DID have a letdown?

    • Andy124

Defense was left in philly due to the weather.

    • Tom W

great gameplan by vikes that we hadn’t seen on tape bc they never pass this much bc they have ap and they never play zone bc they usually have two good corners playing. also cassell played his best game ever imo and their wrs came down w big catches.

  • addicted2mula

Foles throws a bad InT. Let down game

    • dislikedisqus

A lot of QBs make throws like that. The WR usually fights harder for a jump ball. Maybe DeSean lost it in the dome.

      • Andy124

I was wondering if maybe he didn’t realize Prater was there. Looked like he thought the ball was about to drop beautifully in to his hands there.

        • dislikedisqus

I hear you. But, you know, they couldn’t have been on his right, because that was out of bounds. And they weren’t in front of him. So, by process of elimination, DeSean….? I mean, they had to be somewhere near the ball. They didn’t run out of the dome to put a quarter in the meter. .

          • Andy124

Post game comments seem to support that DeSean didn’t realize anybody was about to make a play.

  • addicted2mula

McCoy only carried 8 times. Eagles can’t win like that

    • dislikedisqus

They averaged 9 yards per pass attempt. I think the problem was on the other side of the ball.

      • RIP illa

Then you didn’t watch the game. Averaging 9 yards sounds great except your best player only got 8 or something touches, and the QB was shaky despite his stats, and the number of plays the O left on the field not to mention the lack of scoring through the whole 1st 1/2 and 4th quarter.

        • Jason

I think score and the Vikings defensive scheme had a lot to do with that. Seemed like every read play the Vikings had at least 8 guys in the box. That being said, they did need to give McCoy a few more touches early in the game

        • Token

Russel Wilson threw for 200 yards today.

This idea many seem to have that NFL QBs throw for 500 yards and 4 TDs every week is getting old.

          • RIP illa

No one said he had to throw a certain number of yards or TDs. I’ve said his numbers looked good despite his overall performance. The throws he missed, the staring down one side of the field, the holding on to the ball too long on some plays (coverage not withstanding), the decision making. These are all things that made his performance shaky, despite his numbers and are all things that he has shown to be better than today. So yeah I stick by Shaky!!! Oh’yeah…the Seahawks won 23-0. So they obviously didn’t need Wilson to do much more whereas we need Foles to. Yet still, coaching and O execution had a lot to do w/ it, but so did Foles.

          • Jason

Russell wilson has a slightly better defense behind him

        • Tom W

8 in the box. you dont run against that. chip plays the numbers and the numbers said pass. your qb passed for a ton and they scored a ton. your defense and special teams lost this game.

          • RIP illa

8 in the box my ass. 8 in the box doesn’t mean your best player only touches the ball for runs 8 damn times!!! Please stop w/ that. Plus 8 in the box yet they still had blanket coverage on plenty pass plays??? Or still could run zone w/ safeties over the top on some plays??? Yeah keep telling yourself 8 in the box was what the played ever down to mess up our O.

          • Robert Perri

WHO CARES??? They scored 30 points, I am guessing you had Shady in your fantasy game? Seriously, I understand that he probably should have touched the ball more, but they still scored 30 points, and they weren’t garbage points at the end! The defense couldn’t get off the field and got smoked, blame the kickoffs if you want, and I am sure that had something to do with it, but this loss was mainly on the D.

          • RIP illa

Wow. Absolutely stupid argument!!! Like I said I already spent a whole game posting about our D and ST!!! I don’t play fantasy football!!! Who cares cuz they scored 30 points…well obviously we needed more than 30 points to win this game…sooooo…guess the people that care about wins and losses for this team should at least care. So if the D isn’t stepping it up and letting the team down, then the O needs to compensate. If the O is letting the team down then the D needs to compensate as much as needed to win. If neither unit steps up to compensate for the other’s failure(s) then you end up losing…making it fall on both units. But to you oversimplified point. Yes…we sucked on D, and were stupid in our ST strategy, and were decent on O although being suspect at some of the worst times. And if you don’t think putting the ball in your best players hands (by any means neccessary) is not a good idea then we just have a fundamental difference in opinion about the game of football.

          • G_WallyHunter

Still 10.6 in fantasy, very manageable, can’t blame a loss this week on Shady.

          • addicted2mula

I’m glad i’m not the only one who thinks the same! Fuck the number shit. Use two TE. At least give the man a chance

          • RIP illa

For sure. They didn’t take Shady out of the game…Chip Did!!!

          • RIP illa

And I already spent the whole game posting about our horrible D and ST!!! But that doesn’t mean the O was perfect and didn’t do stuff to hurt us or leave plenty of plays and points on the field. So we can’t even win a shootout w/ the Vikes who have no QB and their best player hurt…against our O w/ all our players healthy?!

        • reb

yeah, Foles looked shaky on a lot of plays. I wonder if a couple of those big hits rattled him.

      • addicted2mula

Still, the team needs to be balance and that’s far from balance

      • Tom W

correct and vikes were going 8 in the box you dont run against that. foles penalty and chip punting and avant penalty and foles int cost us on offense but defense and special teams (strategy) lost this game.

  • G_WallyHunter

Damn, so much for not being a “trap” game..
What a terrible Sunday, D does what they can but secondary just collapses, O is spotty, damn

    • Tom W

dead on and cassell and the wrs and chiefs oline play out of their minds. im over this game already. lets move on.

  • Johnny Domino

Now that we’ve seen the good Matt Cassel, all we can hope is that the good Matt Flynn shows up as well

  • Matt

Can someone tell the refs a flag does not need to be thrown on every play?!? Seriously, just cause guys look at each other doesn’t mean taunting! I guess it’s our turn to have a crappy game called against us! But overall can’t blame refs, bad execution all around, especially defense! I believe we overlooked this game!

  • EuropeanEagle

This is the big slap in the face that this team needed. Not only did they play poorly today, but let’s be honest, the Vikings were on fire. Of course it helps when your QB has 7 seconds to throw on every down, my guess is Davis and co. came in with a stop the run first mentality and it failed. I’m fairly pissed right now, and I could go on and on about how this team doesn’t deserve to go to the playoffs and whatnot, but I just can’t do that, not after a 5 game winning streaks where the Eagles showed us what they’re capable of, and that wasn’t there today.

I expected big time adjustments at half time (more pass rush and blitzing, McCoy keeping it on the ground…) and those never came. I don’t know, maybe they all collectively thought that they didn’t need to change things up and that they were just gonna win because they’re more talented. If so, I’m glad they lost.

Now let’s all hope Dallas gets walked on so we still have that safety net under our collective ass.

PS: I’m writing this with 7 minutes left in the game, obviously if the Eagles come back and win everything will be forgiven :D

    • G_WallyHunter

Good points, it is a sad Sunday for us all, hopefully it is the slap in the face they need to win the next two games.

      GO GREEN BAY!!!!

  • addicted2mula

    Cant kick no more?

  • Token

Not much to say. You just burn the tape and move on.

They fell into the trap game like I hoped they wouldnt. But like many Eagles teams have before. Just thought they could show up and win.

Foles followed a good throw with like 3 over/under throws. Just a off game all around on offense aside from a few drives. Tho blaming the game on Foles, like im sure many will, is just foolish.

45+ passes. McCoy 8 rushes. Thats just a terrible gameplan. Even against 6th string CBs we faced today.

D was in early season mode. Dreadful tackling. Just terrible secondary play. And now will be without Boykin for atleast the Bears game, which is a killer.

Chip and staff followed what I say is their best coaching job in that Lions game with maybe their worst game of the season. Just bad gameplan. No adjustment. Bad execution. ST was dreadful and beyond stupid.

Just one of those games. They were gonna lose eventually. They arent extremely talented, they cant overlook any team.

You hope this brings them into focus now. Maybe they stop reading their own press clippings.

I think it will be very tough to beat the Bears. Just hate the matchup. Really wish the Pack could pull one out today so we can afford a loss to the Bears. Gonna be a stressful next two weeks.

    • G_WallyHunter

      GO FLYNN!!!

      • Andy124

He needs to pull a Cassle.

    • Andy124

Your first sentence was apparently a lie.

      • Token

lol, thought about that half way through./

    • cliff henny

foles isnt brady, so thought he was ok, and cant hang this in him. o-line didnt give him much time either. foles is tough sob. mccoy 8 rushes is really confusing. defense just got ass handed to them. felt like SD game all over again. just take the 8 yards eagles give, maybe break couple tackles and go up top every once in awhile.

      • Token

Yea. Foles took HITS today. From a individual standpoint he was fine. They just couldnt get in the endzone. Had various way off throws, kind of unlike him. Kelly just totally abandoned the run which is the oddest thing,. Peters had a bad day.

But this is on the D. Just no excuse for that bunch this week. They were really really bad in all ways. They will have to be way better next week.

        • cliff henny

chicago wrs might go for 200 and 2tds each. this was defense i feared at beginning of yr, showing up.

          • Token

Anybody who was getting fooled into thinking Nate Allen is good enough should look no further than this game.

You go get Byrd and you hope Wolff can be a good starter. But you still need even another safety.

          • reb

Yeah, #29 looked like his old self today: taking bad angles, missing tackles.

          • GEAGLE

No…we played the WR different today. Didn’t give them the respect of having Barwin jack them up before they go out in coverage which is how we survived against the great WR we have faced…they might get their next week, but they will also turn the rock over

        • tom w

your probably right about defense but I really thought the vikes offense and especially cassell, oline and wrs played amazing. other than safeties on a couple plays, I thought our defense played well. They kept extra guy in too pass block and sent out 3 wrs. cassell was patient and took some chances. we got beat by a hot qb and wrs today. we weren’t ready for pass happy vikes and zone defense from vikes.

      • Bdawkbdawk

Disagree. I think Foles played below average. He took way too many sacks in situations when he absolutely should not have. 3rd and 2 on our 50 – loss of 6- Unforgivable. He floated a few nice balls, but he was holding the ball like Vick in the pocket and missed way too many passes.

        • cliff henny

foles isnt finished product. he’s going to makes mistakes. he hangs in there and fights back next series. he played well enough for them to win. defense gave up 48. not like foles was turning it over giving short field.

    • Robert Perri

The offensive game plan is hard to swallow but they did score 30 points, so this game has to go on D…

  • Will

The Eagles played like Shat all game both sides of the ball, WTF kick the ball deep on kick offs….

    • cliff henny

patterson does return every single one to midfield. sends wrong signal, almost like playing scared.

  • Token

Chip sending the starters out with a minute to go is really dumb. Asking for a killer injury.

    • Andy124

Agreed. Got away with it though.

  • cliff henny

way too pass happy on offense. but it was defense, mainly corners and c-wills in particular. vikes just took the 8-10 he gave all day. Davis and crew hopefully got the slap in face needed.

    • RIP illa

Serious question. Why do you guys blame C-Will for everything but don’t see how Fletch gets killed deep and short (he’s fine on intermediate stuff) game in and game out?

      • Token

I cant think of a good defensive player today.

Cary is terrible tho, just for the record.

        • RIP illa

Lol. Sure yo can. Logan played well, Barwin did what Barwin does, which is just be solid against the run, Kendricks flashed big time and had a pretty good game all around. Thornton was so so. That’s about it tho.

          • Token

I thought the LBs were invisible today. Little rush from the outside guys. Kendricks had a play or two. I dunno. Gotta try to delete this one from my memory.

          • RIP illa

Mecco definitely was besides his sack which was due to a double a gap blitz. He was nowhere in coverage and o was third in tackles w/ only 6, which is horrible for our best LB, especially the way the Vikes were moving the ball on us.

          • GEAGLE

If we had a BALLER at Trent Coles spot, our LBs would have had a huge game

          • RIP illa

I’m fed up right now!!! Fed up w/ the lack of pressure and sacks that has been a persistent problem throughout the season. If we maintain our draft position (give or take) and kids don’t start shooting up the board, then I want nothing more than Ealy or Hageman in the 1st.

‘Shede is too strong and athletic to be left one on one in the middle and sometimes even 2 on 1. Ealy isn’t a sure fire 1st rounder, as of yet, but he’s hovering the outskirts and can shoot up all the way w/ an impressive bowl performance and combine. If he stays where he is tho, I wouldn’t hesitate to grab him in the back 1/2 of the 1st and have him give us what Trent is missing.

          • GEAGLE

I ADORE Shede but he is a DT who doesn’t solve the Trent Cole problem….but of still like to have Shede on our front 7 rotation
            .
Edit…sorry didn’t see you write ealy

        • G_WallyHunter

Those two inside LBs were doing work. Bennie got lots of good pressure, Square had good play. TCole had a few nice plays.
          Other than that, yup…
Fletch couldn’t have defended the Wright bomb any better, other than that he looked terrible. This game really reminded us all where this secondary still stands.
I thought the front7 played well, secondary just never gave them that extra half second they needed.

      • cliff henny

jennings went off on c-wills all game. fletch had his issues, but that one deep was just great play. fletch was not good, c-wills playing like that, be tough to beat anyone.

        • RIP illa

The 1st deep play for Jennings was against Fletch. Wright got his 95 yards solely against Fletch. That PI on Patterson deep was against Fletch. Several missed tackles were against Fletch. Cary was his usual unreliable self in coverage but Fletch was an abomination to the position today.

          • cliff henny

what are you arguing? said fletch sucked, but williams wasnt in picture on most plays. fletch at least competed a couple times, williams was a freaking waste today.

          • RIP illa

Wasn’t trying to argue. Didn’t see the part where you said Fletch sucked! And you guys, you included, have a habit of making it seem like we’re set w/ Fletch going forward and C-Will is just absolutely terrible, when posting about our CBs. To me they both need to be upgraded going forward.

          • cliff henny

no, i’ve always wanted cb and safeties, but think kelly believes they are dependent on front 7, so when fake gm’g, i think along those lines. cassell had too much time. i do like fletcher more than williams, the cushions he gives are insane, but every once in awhile he makes a play. find him extremely fustrating.

          • RIP illa

            Ok

          • GEAGLE

Cary was bad, prob his worse game of the season..Brad was no where near good enoughl this was BOykins worst game.

But I think the safety play was even worse

  • atlvickfan

I didn’t know Andy Reid took over this team again. 48 passes, 8 rushes?

    • Jernst

Don’t forget poor clock management and a stupid challenge … It was seriously déjà vu

      • Robert Perri

I wouldn’t call the challenge stupid, as what else could he do? Probably should have challenge the third and one though…

        • Eagles4Life

That 3rd and 1 was definitely a first down.

          • G_WallyHunter

Yup, shady had elbow down first, bad non-challenge and then bad challenge the next play

          • Bird of Prey

Yep. In Greenbay they didn’t have the network feed, same in the other away games, but at some point they have to look at the guys they have upstairs that are responsible. Because who ever it is, they stink. But I have to say 4th and inches from the shot gun is nuts.

    • Richard Colton

Can always count on you to slither out after a loss. Your boy looked great today btw. I’m sure Cure Auto Insurance is thrilled to have him.

  • Mrkraxx

I have yet to see any starting rb in the nfl
    Today that touched the ball
Less than McCoy. Think about that while you suck on that loss, chip. No rational explanation for that vs a 3 win team without their best player. Don’t even try to explain. Not possible.

    • Robert Perri

While McCoy should have been more involved, they SCORED 30 points, still pretty respectable in the NFL… This game wasn’t lost because of offensive game planning, it was lost on poor defense.

      • cliff henny

figuring also offense didnt have ball in 1st half, too. how many 3rd and7+ did d give up…had to be near 5

      • Mrkraxx

Hypothetically, if like to have seen the 2000 ravens d in a game where they threw dilfer 50 times and ran Jamal Lewis 8… That kinda gameplan makes a d look worse than they are.

  • TOm W

Vikes lost ap and three corners … so the coaches were forced to throw and play zone. two things the eagles were not prepared for bc that hadn’t seen it on tape all year. match that with inconsistent play by foles, a turnover, some bad tackling, horrible deep coverage on first td and some bad penalties and bad ingame manuerver by Chip (not punting) and amazing play by cassel sowe lost.

Not overly concerned. We actually had close coverage alot except for the one long early td. Our defense gives up underneath stuff. same all year. cassell is very much like alex smith. takes what we give them. He also played his best game ever.

Sky isnt falling philly. we will be fine.

O yea, we didn’t run as much bc the vikes were bringing 8 in the box on every first and second down. numbers game. yes i woulda ran more but what are you gonna do when we were down 3 scores …. pass.

    • Eagles4Life

Agree on all accounts. Could have mixed in some more runs once the score was closer though.

    • UKEagle99

Still a shortcoming on our D, you have to be able to adjust. Fly me to Texas and I’ll get the Texans running stuff that isn’t on film, it won’t make them better. Ultimately it highlighted our shortcomings, OLB needs upgrading, we need more pressure from that position, safety needs an upgrade, Wolf may be the answer at 1 spot but we need a playmaker at the other. I dont blame our CBs, if you throw at any Cb enough, the rules favour the O.

      Romo sucks. Ciao

  • gruvi

Lol, no geagle? I guess he gloated too much as usual!

    • GEAGLE

Why don’t you open your groupie eyes

      • gruvi

Why don’t you stop being center of attention on the Internet?

        • RIP illa

Why are you making him the center of attention by calling him out…Atlvickfan/gruvi/TomW/any other name you wanna come up w/ to post more w/ contradicting statements and give yourself more up votes!!!

          • gruvi

Ah, you are his paranoid fan member I see.

          • RIP illa

What??? Paranoid??? SMH. Actually I argue w/ Geagle more often than not and call him out also. I just don’t complain about him being the center of attention while…you know…making him the center of attention. Jesus…still SMH!!!

          • RIP illa

Sorry did I leave off jakethesnake and MrKraxx on your list of aliases??? It’s hard to keep up w/ them all…F’N Lame!!!

          • GEAGLE

He really not worth it man…brings nothing to the table

          • gruvi

I was never banned from a blog. Heard you have, lol.

  • evanphilly

I am a Henery supporter, but get a Kicker that can boot the ball out of the back of the endzone. Might have solved a few problems today.

    • cliff henny

it was a dome, too. that 50 yd fg would have been good from 60+. giving ball at M40-45 might as well onside all game.

      • evanphilly

Either that or kick the ball out of bounds on every kickoff.

        • cliff henny

was getting ridiculous. yes, lions had some success, but by and large thought kickoff coverage was pretty good this year.

  • nycbirdsfan

    Is Geagle ok?

    • cliff henny

are any of us…that was damn near a 4 hr root canal, except for last 5 mins in 3rd

      • G_WallyHunter

Yup so exciting when it came within 5, then the secondary let up another huge play, and bam excitement gone.
Will Nate Allen get resigned? These next 3 games should determine..

        • cliff henny

then kickoff put them right back in business.
          .
i dont see it. he doesnt play STs, and will require some money, rather get byrd/ward/clemmons and another 5th rdr.

          • G_WallyHunter

Ya let him and his mediocre play walk

          • UKEagle99

I’d want him back, as a backup. He’s improved for sure, not sure having Chung back there helps his cause. The defence calls Dawkins-Mikell as evidence.

        • GEAGLE

I hope not…take the opportunity to upgrade Nate

  • addicted2mula

The way Dallas is playing today is not a good day!

  • GEAGLE

Very dissapointing across the board, starting with our HC and QB…however they definitely didn’t get enough help from our guys…I guess it’s faster to mention who’s play I actually liked today:
    1) kendricks continues on his strong play in his last 4 games
2)!benny Logan was our best linemen today
3)’Kelce,Mathis,Heremans didn’t give up much pressure
    4) Desean played 60 minutes and showed up
    ….
Chip n FOles got too greedy this game always swinging from the fences, and FOles was let down by his pass catchers early that kept us from getting in a Rythem..of course, there was plenty of blame for Nick too. Peters and Lane had the r worst games in a while. They were not good enough on key 3rd downs, both gave up pressure and Lane slipped and fell on a failed McCoy short yardage conversion.
Boykin ha his worst game of the year.
Mr. December Cary Williams was atrocious and clearly forgot what month it was, safeties were all victimized!!! Brad wasn’t good enough, however more of the blame goes to the front 7. They crapped the bed against a nobody running back, and in order for this defense to ever cover up our back end wharts, the front 7 HAS to get pressure. Cole and Graham were MIA. Curry wasn’t a factor, Ced and Cox were in check…Meco and Kendricks blitzing was really the only pressure we could fabricate

Whenever our offense has 30 on the board, I EXPECT a DAMN WIN unless I’m playing Peyton!! So while FOles, chips play calling and supporting cast were not good enough til late in the 3rd for the second week in a row…my beloved defense FAILED to live up to it’s end of the bargain..when you offense hasn’t gotten into a Rythem yet, mthe defense can’t look like Dallas against the bears..they have to hold strong, make big plays to help us out…that was the DEAL of how we would over come our safety and OLB short comings, and they let us down today..

This one REALLY hurts especially since we squandered what could have been an epic offensive comeback, really hurts,,,,.Hopefully we grow from this, but we desperately need Earl Wolff back,,,and thinking we don’t need to upgrade Nate in FA might be premature…silver lining?….if we can duplicate another 5 game win streak we will have a kick ass parade to show for it…Alot for FOles to improve, but also a lot to like..

We aren’t great yet if we are having letdowns like this, but knowing you can score two TDs in 3mins when things are ugly gives some comfort going forward..As many problems as we had on offense, if they woulda mailed it in, it could have been horrendous day..but they did fight, rebound, get hot and tried to show that they wouldn’t lay down…if we take this out on Chicago and Dallas, then it’s easier to look back on today..if it’s leads to a losing streak…yikes!

Shame we wasted such a stellar game by Desean

    • cliff henny

this was just 4 hr ad to get olb in 1st and better safeties. chung cannot play.

      • GEAGLE

Chung? Nate was atrocious. Coleman sucked, Colt sucked, we used every safety we had and they all sucked!!!

We can’t win if Cole and Graham give us nothing. We got sacks from the other 3 LBs but NOT our main pass rusher? Cole and Graham being MIA was the missing link…get serious pressure out of that position today and it could have been enough to cover our back end wharts…I mean on an early TD we had two Linemen miss castles throwing arm by an inch, instead they score a TD,…smh

Cary and Boykin both had their worst games of the season. They can’t do that when the safeties are blowing tackles all over the field

        • cliff henny

yeah, was rough. plent of blame to go around. cant believe minne w/out AP and cassell at qb put up 48. wonder if davis wants couple of those ‘they didnt have to play this defense quotes back.
          .
was good streak. we knew this wasnt a 10 win in a row team. they better bring better effort against bears, or cowboys could be ones resting starters week 17

  • #7

We we’re straight up manhandled this game. 8 rushes for the best player on the team. 44 pass attempts for Nick Foles lol. Wow.

  • theycallmerob

Painful. Just painful. No run game, penalties and bad decisions, and bad defense. That was a throwback to the past few years

    • GEAGLE

Well said…the deal was if we play like a well coached team, we win games..

Shoot yourself in the foot, and you are the Detroit lions

      • theycallmerob

Needed this. Last week’s game gave us the breathing room. Better against MIN than DAL again

        • RIP illa

We already had this…it was the SD game!!! Lol. Didn’t feel like giving up 1st place to DAL…oh well

          • theycallmerob

I agree. Just poor execution. Really exposed out talent issues on D. Will be better next year. Curse of the metronome?

          • RIP illa

Didn’t think it could happen w/ this staff. Are the Vikes our new Chicago???

          • UKEagle99

I dont think so. I think our OLine didnt match up/play well against mini, however we do on paper, it says so right here in front of me!

        • GEAGLE

Agreed…Running the table would have been GRAND, but silver lining is it’s probably easier to go on two 5 game winning streaks than it is to win 11 in a row. :),we still control our own destiny, and if we deserve to go to the playoffs, then that’s all we can ask for this time of year!!!

  • GEAGLE

    Who was Desean arguing with?

FOles wasn’t his best, but losing when he scores 30 is unacceptable.
    peters/Lane weren’t good enough
WRs looked like they struggled to get open on more plays then I’d like(although the coaches tape could reveal it was on FOles..he didn’t seem gun shy tho so I tend to think our WRs weren’t open fast enough…too many drops early kept us from getting into a Rythem…
    ..
So while there is plenty of blame for the offense…I put most of it on chips play calling, decisions, lack of game changing pass rush OLB, and half our defensive roster..
    ..
If we go on to take it out on Chicago and Dallas! this will have been a learning experience. Hopefully it’s not the beginning of the end.
    ..
Chip, FOles, all the way down the line, weren’t good enough

    • cliff henny

think avant. just guessing he didnt like d-jax effort to break up pick.
      .
think foles/kelly is spoiling us. if that’s a bad offensive game, then we’re in for heck of a ride. 48 to no AP Cassell led team is embarrassing.

    • UKEagle99

I think Coop and Avant stepped in.

  • jakethesnake

idiotic kickoff strategy….he better chg that pu$$y strategy for Devon Heston and kick the ball and f-ing tackle somebody

    • #7

      lol

  • UKEagle99

Cassel 382 yds, 2 TDs and 1 pick
Foles 428 yds, 3 TDs and 1 pick

    We lost! WTF!

Week 1 defence showed up. O wasn’t great but competent.

Bad play calling (at times), poor execution (at times), lack of discipline (at times, penalties).

Trap game, we lost. Makes me sad.

  • cliff henny

crap, DALL is doing to GB what Eagles should have done to Minne. oh well, nothing was really lost except for margin of error.

  • birdsfanindc

The offense played poorly and we still scored 30 points. That would have been enough to win the previous nine games. Our D and ST killed us today.

But even good teams lose, look at the Patriots and Broncos this week. The Saints may go down too.

The Chicago game does not look good though. We not only have a bad history with them (like we do with Minnesotta), I don’t like how their passing game matches up agaisnt our secondary…

  • Stolo

You guys realize now that if Dallas wins against washington early on Sunday, the game against the Bears becomes a Playoff game. We lose next week with a Dallas win, and there is no week 17 showdown.

    • Sean

      Not anymore….

  • addicted2mula

    Gb coming back!!!!

  • EaglePete

Gb wahoo romo my man. Its a romo december everyone lets celebrate !!!

  • addicted2mula

    And GB WINS!!!!!!

  • #7

What a choke job by the Cowboys. Right on time

  • GEAGLE

Drew Brees loses to rams, romo loses to Flynn, and fools are crying about the growing pains of our youngins who just put up 400,3 and 1?
    Brady lost, Peyton lost…whacky week

    • Andy124

I started Foles over Brees because I’m in the consolation bracket and didn’t give a crap. Didn’t expect it to actually be the right call.

  • Bird of Prey

The team looked bad from all angles, but Matt Cassle looking like Matt Cassle or the Pats instead of the Chiefs didn’t help matters much either. No runs for McCoy on a fast track like Minnesota was just bad play calling to say the least. The problem with the 4th and one, was they didn’t challenge on the third down play where it was clearly a bad spot. Every team has a bad day, hopefully this is the last for the next few weeks….

  • anthony

I think the offense played good for the most part it was the defense that gave up to many points and the lack of confidence in the special teams is what hurt use
