Making Sense Of the Eagles’ Inactives

The following Eagles are inactive for today’s game against the Cardinals: QB Matt Barkley, safety Earl Wolff, CB Curtis Marsh, RB Matthew Tucker, LB Emmanuel Acho, OT Matt Tobin and OT Dennis Kelly.

Michael Vick will back up Nick Foles. James Casey is the emergency quarterback.

The Eagles have six wide receivers active: DeSean Jackson, Riley Cooper, Jason Avant, Jeff Maehl, Damaris Johnson and Brad Smith. Johnson didn’t dress in the team’s last game two weeks ago against the Redskins.

Allen Barbre (G/T) and Julian Vandervelde (center) are the backup offensive linemen.

On the defensive side of the ball, Jake Knott returns after a four-game absence (hamstring). He gets the nod in place of Acho, who won’t dress.

The Eagles have four active cornerbacks: Cary Williams, Bradley Fletcher, Brandon Boykin and Roc Carmichael. Fletcher missed the previous two games because of a pectoral injury.

Wolff misses his second game in a row with a knee injury. Patrick Chung will start in his place alongside Nate Allen.

One big name out of the lineup for the Cardinals is running back Andre Ellington. He’s averaging 6.0 YPC and has five runs of 20+ yards. Ellington was also a factor in the passing game. Now, Rashard Mendenhall (3.0 YPC) will have to carry the load.
