Injury Update: Vick Limited Wednesday

066A7053

As Michael Vick came trotting off the field Wednesday afternoon, he smiled at reporters in search of an update.

“Felt good,” he said. “Got a full practice in.” He later added that he participated in seven-on-seven drills and that the hamstring is loosening up. However, he was listed as a limited participant on the team’s official injury report.

Vick was limited Tuesday as well. Kelly continues to say that the quarterback is day-to-day.

Patrick Chung, who has been sidelined with an ailing shoulder, was listed as a full participant today. Billy Davis on Tuesday described the safety's injury as "unique" and suggested Chung would be part of a rotation to start once cleared to play. Asked what was unique about Chung's injury, Chip Kelly responded:

"He's got a shoulder. If that's unique, that's unique.  I don't get into the specific injuries.  He hurt his shoulder.  They just tell me how long he's out for, and we're hopeful we're going to get him back."

As for the rest of the injury report:

Brandon Boykin (groin),  Donnie Jones (left foot) and Chris Polk (ankle) were all limited.  Connor Barwin (knee) and Jason Peters (finger) were full participants.

DeSean Honored

DeSean Jackson was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week after catching seven balls for 132 yards and a touchdown against the Giants on Sunday. He beat out Tony Romo, who threw for 506 yards and five touchdowns against Denver but was intercepted down the stretch in a 51-48 loss.

  • nicksaenz1

Wow, Desean got it over Romo? I don’t care if they lost, I almost feel bad for Romo. That was a hell of a performance.

    • bentheimmigrant

I stopped laughing for a second to consider whether I should feel bad for him. Turned out the answer was no. He choked and I loved it.

      • Maggie

Romo and the offense put up 48 points!! Dallas forgot to bring their DEFENSE to that game.

        • Richard Colton

you just don’t get it, do you Maggie?

          • GEagle

            Don’t hold your breath lol

          • Richard Colton

what kind of Eagles fan doesn’t love when Dallas falls on their smug faces? seriously, its almost as good as an Eagles win.

          • GEagle

Lol Cowboys and Giants thoroughly enjoyed our misery last year….payback is a bitch…Giants are doomed and Cowboys are poised for their yearly Late November implosion…Murry bound to get hurt, and even when things are great, Romo will still choke at a key moment that keeps them from winning…love Tony Romo…my favorite NFC East opponent in the history of my fandome…Quincy whatever that idiots name who played QB for the cow hoes was my second favorite

          • Vick Must Go

I actually agree with Maggie and Big Butt here… which is surprising given their nonsensical support of Vick. But I think Romo is getting way more flack on this than he should. He does have a tendency to make a big mistake in key situations… but the gut put up 48 points. If he made that interception in the 1st quarter instead of the 4th, no one would care. If he didn’t make that interception and they only put up 24 points and weren’t in the game, no one would care. Romo went toe to toe with Manning until 3 mins left in the game. Give him credit for that .

For you Vick lovers… Vick didn’t put up 48 on Denver. I would trade Vick for Romo in a heartbeat.

        • http://abigbuttandasmile.com/ A Big Butt and a Smile

Actually I’m with you on this. Everyone acts like Manning’s pick didn’t happen at a crucial moment in the game as well.

Romo is getting more flack for that loss than he should.

          • 1972

            its about his history.
loss to the giants last game of the year for a trip to playoffs
threw 2 picks against the skins last game of the season for a trip to the playoffs
fumbled snap against the seahawks in the playoffs to lose the game.. HE’S A LOSER!!!!

          • cliff henny

yeah, but he’s Dallas’ loser…which makes it even better

        • #7

There is no such thing as defense. The NFL has become p..ss.ified.

The NFL and the NBA will be equal as far as contact goes. Can’t even get physical with a WR nor hit them nor can you hit the QB. Ronnie Lott and probably the majority of the old Eagles defenses couldn’t play in this league now.

I thought the Dallas v Denver game sucked myself. No defense, Period. How in the hell is anyone supposed to stop these QBs today? It’s a shame

    • Maggie

I will never understand the mindset of anyone who blames a quarterback, who put up FORTY-EIGHT points, when their team loses. WHO LET the other team win?

      • Addicted2Mula

Dont matter how many points he put up. You got to come out with a win. And he was the one who threw the pick. If somebody fumbled It would be a different story

      • JofreyRice

His play throughout made it a game. His play at the end made it a loss.

      • anon

        yeah d did nothing.

      • Jack Waggoner

Yeah, when Favre would throw up those INTs they just called him a gunner

        • anon

yeah look how his career ended

  • Maggie

C’mon DJax haters. Come out of hiding, but you don’t need to keep repeating yourselves. Every team seems to have at least one player who yaps. As long as they can also play, it doesn’t matter. They are socially immature boys who have been told all their lives that as long as they can play a game better than most others, they don’t have to become adults. So just enjoy their football talents. Eventually, most of them do grow up. Shortly after they begin to slow down, lol.

    • Jack Waggoner

I think he was taken out of context, the whole thing is on philadelphiaeagles.com

  • Adam

Tony made my football weekend perfect. I had him and Witten on my fantasy team. Me and my opponent were tied going into this game, he had Welker and Julius Thomas. I thought i was screwed but Romo went beast mode, but still lost the game.

Eagles win + Cowboys and Giants loss + Fantasy win = Great Sunday

    • Jack Waggoner

I had Romo, Henery, Nicks, Jacquizz, all putting up much better than expected numbers this past week. Graham, as usual, was solid as well.

      • GEagle

Julius Thomas, shady, started Blackmon in two leagues fresh off his suspension, TY Hilton, luck….monster week bye me with a few of my big dogs out on a bye week. Alex henery and KCs defense lol

        • anon

yeah i got kc defense right after the eagles game…paying dividends

          • Jack Waggoner

            good pickup. I have Seattle’s D

My team’s doing pretty well considering my first pick was C.J. Spiller

          • anon

            i have a team w d. martin, vjax, a. bradshaw and julio…

          • Jack Waggoner

            Ouch

          • GEagle

Ooooh sucks to lose Julio….I was the defending Champ of my league, had an incredible draft taking Shady 3rd and Reggie B use lol…and those idiots let me pick up Denver’s TE on waivers lol…last year I got Alfred Morris on Waivers..
            ..
My only bad pick was Dwayne BOWE..I have had chances to dump him! but to fellow BOWE owners, check out KC schedule frm weeks 11-15(fantasy crunch time)…Cheifs have some shoot outs against teams with bad defenses like Denver! where I feel like Alex will need to involve BOWE to win,,,hoping they Move him to the slot because Alex plays like his passes can’t even reach the outside WR lol

          • nicksaenz1

He’s destroying me in 2 leagues and I can’t get rid of him for anything that’s better than just stashing him on my bench until Andy gives Alex the okay to let it rip.

          • GEagle

Let’s hope he gets moved in the slot…you have to think they will have to get him involved when they play Denver twice in 3 weeks, for them to have a chance at stealing the division….thats probably our only hope…him coming alive for the Denver and jaxonville stretch of games! which would be huge because that’s playoff time in fantasy

          • BlindChow

            Somehow I don’t think it’s Andy holding Smith back…

          • anon

Haha i have Bush too — i thought i was getting a steal in bradshaw. Should have followed my gut and taken shady — knew he was going to crush it.

I would have dumped Bowe — if you can still get Jeffrey I’d go there.

          • #7

I had Julio on my team and now trying to replace him with Austin Pettis and Keenan Allen smh

          • G_WallyHunter

same, replacing him with Terrance Williams or Keenan Allen. I like Terrance’s matchup this weekend, I like Keenan for the rest of the season, he’s carving out that #1 spot in SD…. Terrance has plenty of targets taken away by Dez and Witten and possibly more from Miles when he’s back…

It’d be great if we can somewhat replace the loss of Julio without giving up anyone (I have Bush, McCoy, Sproles at RBs, gotta keep em)

          • #7

Yeah I picked up Terrance Williams too. Dropped Tavon Austin and DeAndre Hopkins. Austin f’ed me over big time. James Jones is saving my season

          • G_WallyHunter

Nice James Jones and his snap last week, I got Djax and Wayne, hoping they save it. Relying on Djax to snap these next 4 weeks lol.. good old fantasy

  • JofreyRice

A lot of “smart NFL people” love to pretend that being “clutch” is just some invention by fans. Tony Romo consistently plays his worst ball when the pressure is on him, in the biggest situations. I’m so glad Dallas doesn’t realize what a choke artist that guy is. I hope they keep him forever.

    • Jack Waggoner

So was Peyton, until one year he won

      • JofreyRice

Peyton got over the hump one year–and I will agree that he did–but I don’t think playing in the postseason is as easy for him as the regular season. While he did play well enough to win in that Superbowl, he got a lot of help from a defense that had been disrespected all year, and had come alive in the playoffs.

He threw a pretty bad pick in the playoffs last year, and we all remember the pick 6 in his last Superbowl.

I think people overcomplicate this; Romo is a choker. The ability to perform under intense pressure is a real phenomenon–some people can do it, some people have a much harder time. A researcher from the University of Chicago did some pretty interesting work on the subject a few years back. There are things that can be done to mitigate degraded performance under pressure, but I’m hoping Romo, and the people close to him, remain in denial.

        • Richard Colton

The best thing about that int was everyone on the planet knew it was coming, except Jerry Jones. And then to see Tony’s face on the sideline while Peyton milked the clock.

I agree 100% – as long as Romo is QB, I like our chances in the NFC East.

          • GEagle

They will implode in 3,2,1….Chip hasn’t even faced his old pal monte kiffin yet lol

          • cliff henny

right…rest vick till Dallas at home. shoot him up with horse steriods, i dont care…want to see vick go absolutely great ape$h!t on kiffen! 50 by halftime!

          • GEagle

Yeah I’m def down to bench Vick for the rest of the season and just use him to torture Monte…that would be so much fun as long as the curse of the Linc doesn’t continue..but Dallas is like a Fat chick, in that they seem like the perfect “slump buster”….but if we don’t win a home game soon, we will be begging the NFL to take away a home game and send us to london lol

          • cliff henny

oh, not resting, move jose conseco in, victor conte as his trainer, send him to Germany for ‘blood tranfusion’. invite bunch of 50 yr old annoying dog loving football hating gold dripping main line housewives to yap all week to vick, to the brink of snapping…then, send him out onto the field!

          • GEagle

Just keep Dan hardy away from him lol

          • RaiderDebo

I’ll be really annoyed by the dorks who call for foles if they beat a winless TB team. But I want Eagle7 to sit this week and be ready for Dallas. He doesn’t lose against the division and this year, that’ll be good enough to win it and host a playoff game.

          • GEagle

Depends how FOles looks against Tampa…don’t care how winless they are, that team has a decent defense capable of playing some good ball….if FOles were to come out and really light them up and get Cooper, Celek and Ertz involved, while being highly effective in the RZ, then it has to become a discussion…I just wish monte kiffin weren’t waiting to be driven crazy by Vick the following week, or it would be a no BRAINER for me after watching Vick struggle to complete passes against the Giants….Vick is 1-3, if FOles looks like he is getting Hot and on a roll, it has to be considered….Vick has won the job, but he hasn’t been good enough, or successful enough to just automatically take away a hot hand..

.but we are getting ahead of ourselves…tampa has a good defense, and skill position weapons on offense that can cause us problems..I don’t look at Tampa!Dallas and Oakland has easy wins. We lost 15 of the past 21 games…our guys need to learn to win first, in an NFL that is often a weekly Dog Fight…Until we prove that we will beat the teams that we are supposed to beat consistently, and get back some sort of home advantage at the Linc! I can’t scoff at any level of competition. We have holes, and every team has smart coaches who will be looking to exploit those holes…we have to crawl before we can run….This next stretch of games is Huge, because it’s a winnable stretch of games that we can use to build confidence, if we can win these games..

Seasons are broken down into quarters…we have to find a way to ATleast go 3-1 during the quarter…preferably not losing to dallas

          • nicksaenz1

I really don’t care who the QB is, if we can come out of these next three weeks sitting at 4-4 with a W against Jerry’s kids….. I’ll, well, I don’t know what I’d do, but I’d be real f’n happy.

          • GEagle

I prefer FOles for the franchises best long term chances of making informed decisions, knowing exactly what you have and what you need…but from a game point of view, I don’t really care because I doubt either makes us much better than the other this year…FOles makes us different, but I I don’t think he makes us better, this soon in the process…i do think if we gave FOles this year to grow, we would have a better level of QB next year….I don’t think Vick is playing bad, so if FOles can maintain our level of play, i think it’s a damn good sign for the kids future

    • RaiderDebo

Agree 100 %. I wonder if that’s why he went undrafted.

    • cliff henny

more importantly…Jerry Jones FOREVER! i’d love to see what their ’15/’16 cap looks like already.

    • Uriel Fernandez

I don’t know if thats true he did lead the NFL in 4th quarter comebacks last year

      • 1972

he also threw 2 big picks in the last game of the season against the skins that cost them a playoff trip.. you guys and your meaning less numbers

        • Uriel Fernandez

Those weren’t only stats I just don’t care enough about Romo or Cowboys to look for more numbers, Unless you want to continue. So numbers are meaningless but opinions like yours aren’t? by the way “meaningless” is one word together

          • 1972

Sorry grammar Nazi. Apparently I don’t hit spell check as often as you do. I responded to your post, now you don’t care. If you didn’t care you wouldn’t have responded to me at all. Or one better, maybe you shouldn’t be defending Tony Romo on an Eagles message board.

          • Uriel Fernandez

I said I didn’t care enough about Romo or Cowboys to look up more, I didn’t say I didn’t care about your post otherwise I wouldn’t have responded, LOL and I wasn’t defending Romo or Cowboys was just giving my opinion on “clutch” good try though

          • 1972

What exactly is your opinion on clutch? Do you consider him a clutch qb? If so, why? And all numbers aren’t meaningless, just the one you threw out there of his last year. lol

          • Uriel Fernandez

I don’t consider him a “clutch” QB, I just don’t consider him the worst QB in “pressure” situations objectively. Clutch is something you can’t really use correctly due to so many other factors having to being considered in my opinion.

      • JofreyRice

I think the statistic is somewhat significant, but I’d really have to watch each of those comebacks to see what kind of plays he was making. Choking doesn’t really seem to have a linear relationship with time in a ballgame, and I don’t think all games and all 4th quarters are equal. If you’re just looking at comebacks quantitatively, one would think that Peyton Manning is the greatest “clutch” QB of all time. I don’t believe that’s true.

In other words, will he fail in every fourth quarter, in every opportunity? No, I don’t think so. But when the pressure is the greatest, and the payoff the highest, he’s going to come up short. Trying to beat the best team in the NFL, and having a real shot to do it was one of those moments. There will be more.

        • Uriel Fernandez

Yeah totally agree was just throwing it out there, I just don’t really agree with people saying clutch or not clutch there’s too much other factors in it regardless of sports or player in my opinion though

      • BlindChow

He has 18 fourth quarter comebacks in his career.

    • 1972

This is one of your best posts Howie. These talking heads are brainwashed by his numbers. Some people are just losers man.
And the guy who compared him to peyton manning should be shot!!!
manning made it to the playoffs almost every year of his career before winning a superbowl. Romo can even get them past 8-8. The defense for this guy Monday morning was ridiculous

    • BQNinja

At least through 2011, Romo had a 102.1 passer rating in the fourth quarter (tops in the league at that point). According to someone on Reddit, he’s thrown the 4th fewest interceptions in the last 5 minutes of games amongst active QBs. (Couldn’t find the source though, so grain of salt, but it’s believable enough…)

    • BQNinja

And here’s an article by Cold Hard Football Facts about it: http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/content/nfl-myth-busting-tony-romo-and-the-dallas-cowboys-are-americas-chokers/23434/

(Disclaimer: I’m not a Cowboys fan, I just don’t think Romo is as bad as people think…)

  • JofreyRice

Son of a…Some rich j!rkoff in a Jaguar t-boned me and my family yesterday! I’m posting from the hospital, in a lot of pain, and confused. The vanity plate on the car was “SiennaSpammer”.

  • cliff henny

seriously great game, or 47-mins by romo. was getting worried for a minute, but then i remembered romo was romo. his last throw made me go to bed with huge smile and sleep like after the buddy ryan’s fake kneel down, just a sleep of joy…god that was great. how much would you have paid to be in the stadium when that pick was thrown? guarenteed, i’d of been killed for running my mouth.

    • GEagle

You got worried? I swear I didn’t sweat it out at all..
…a bunch of us were on Lawlors commenting on the game live…and all game I kept posting 3…2….1 and then it happened.. You know you are a pathetic Choke artist when you are playing the game of your life, and literally millions of people knew you were going to choke it away…hahahahah what a perfect and memorable Sunday

  • nicksaenz1

Bet he plays on Sunday and all of our Foles/Vick debates were all for naught.

    • GEagle

I think the opposite. I think there is no shot he plays and Chip is just using Vicks fear or losing his job and desire to not miss this game, to screw with the Bucs preparation and gain a competitive advantage…

      • nicksaenz1

It would be very Belichik-like of him.

        • GEagle

Like…what’s that Vick? You want to run around in front of reporters? Sure…give it a shot lol. yeah Vick might play this week, look at him run around, look at him throw…….you ready Nick? Lol

      • anon

Yeah CK makes it seem like he’s not going to play despite the fact that he really wants to play.

    • cliff henny

just this past couple days, or last 6 months? gawd, so hard not to get sucked in…only 11 more games

      • nicksaenz1

Haha the last few days. We had to get through summer somehow, so I don’t consider those discussions as time wasted. If anything, I learned more from them, even if they did become annoying or a little too heated.

        • cliff henny

wait till it’s foles vs barkley, heaven forbid…what the heck do we argue about then? no worries, always have Dutch

          • BlindChow

It’ll be about what Barkley’s speed brings to run game.

          • #7

If it becomes that…we all might fall asleep as we type

    • UKEagle99

They all blend in to one if you read too much!! I’m not sure who I want in, Nick Vick or Mike Foles, it’s a tough one.

  • hillbillybirdsfan

Vick is one tough SOB. Hope the new coaches realize that they’ll have to save him from himself. If they leave it up to him he will try to go full-tilt boogie and tear that hammy for sure.

    • Vick Must Go

A hamstring rupture/avulsion is pretty rare. Not sure if I’ve ever heard of one in the absence of a significant trauma. But you are right, hamstrings are tricky. It is better to err on the side of caution and rest too long…

      • BlindChow

On the plus side, Foles is undefeated versus Tampa Bay.

        • http://abigbuttandasmile.com/ A Big Butt and a Smile

That new look Tampa D will have something to say about that

          • BlindChow

Wow, does Foles owe you money or something?

          • http://abigbuttandasmile.com/ A Big Butt and a Smile

My point to you is this isn’t last year’s Tampa bay defense. I want him to win if he’s the QB…but let’s not get cocky ’bout it.
