Eagles To Interview Gus Bradley Today

This is shaping up to be a critical weekend in the Eagles’ search for a new head coach.

Earlier today, we updated you on the courting of Brian Kelly. And now, a league source confirms that Jeffrey Lurie, Howie Roseman and Don Smolenski will meet with another candidate, Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.

The Eagles’ brass will meet Bradley in Atlanta today. The Seahawks face the Falcons in Sunday’s divisional-round playoff game. NFL Network’s Albert Breer first reported the interview.

If the Eagles wanted to conduct a second interview with Bradley, they would have to wait until:

a.) The Seahawks are eliminated from the playoffs.

b.) After the NFC championship game (in the event that Seattle reaches the Super Bowl).

In other words, no second interview can take place next week between the divisional round and the NFC title game.

As for hiring Bradley, the Eagles would have to wait on that too. Les Bowen of the Daily News looked into it and found that “no contract shall be executed, and no agreement to execute a contract, or an announcement of a contract or of an agreement for employment, shall be permitted until after the conclusion of the employer’s playing season.”

That means the Eagles and Bradley would not be able to officially agree to terms on a deal until the Seahawks are eliminated.

As for Bradley, the Eagles aren’t his only suitor. He interviewed with the Chargers on Thursday, according to NFL Network.

they’re waiting for Mike McCoy to be available to sign. With the Eagles, the one they talk about the least is usually the one they’re working behind the scenes to get.

mcCoys interview with us is said to not have gone very well. It only lasted two hours. he has no presence, and lacks command of a room…our “bulldog reporter” Mr. mcManus will chew hi, up and spit him out! GUS IS THE GUY! DO your thing today’s Gus…blow Tweedle dee and Tweedle dumb away and grab this franchise by the throat

  • docboy

no 2nd interview is needed.. a handshake and a wink would suffice for me..

    • Johngiam

AMEN!!!! I have been on pins and needles waiting for this interview? Than, you so much. Now I can st easy? Do your thing Gus. We need you!

      • KD

You and me you both Johngiam…you and me. He’s the man.

If you would trust a handshake from Lurie and Howie, you are a fool, they are as slimmy and two-faced you can get.

Honestly I’d be happy with either of these guys (Kelly or Bradley). They both bring a lot of intriguing things to the table and I’m excited it’s kinda narrowed down to these two, at least publicly (who knows what Lurie’s got going on behind the scenes).

    • Johngiaam

I will be sick if they hire Kelly….I can’t stomach anyone who wants to throw the balls 50 times! You guys should check out what Trotter told Derrick Gun about Gus!! Remember Trot played for Gus when he was a lb coach for TB

      • FMWarner

Yeah, he wants to throw 50 times in a perfect world, but he adjusts to what he has. Notre Dame is anything but a pass-happy offense. Besides, passing WINS. The last three Super Bowl champions – Saints, Packers, Giants – have been known to throw a time or two. I get that people want to do the exact opposite of what Andy did (for some reason), but don’t throw away good ideas because of the source.

Am i the only one who thinks it bodes really, really well for the Falcons that Gus has spent so much time interviewing this week? Seems he should be focused on gameplanning especially now that he’s lost Clemons

  • Mjaxs

Sign mccoyas oc, Gus as dc, then find hc maybe lovie build good asst around him b4 we loose all good ones if they take lat position w/ pay increase to get them here

  • Rocky

Should have just kept Andy Reid and said the hell with all u that don’t like him

    • ski

is clueless. Most of his decisions have made the Eagles worst off.

  • ski

Bradley it is and sign the DT Armstead. Looks like a Reggie White
