Report: Eagles ‘Made Approaches’ On Bill Cowher

Jason LaCanfora put out a pretty potent Eagles tweet Sunday afternoon. He threw some cold water on the Eagles-Brian Kelly courtship and tied them to Bill Cowher, all in less than 140 characters.

While the Cowher nugget is certainly noteworthy, it doesn’t appear that the union will happen. There have been conflicting reports as to Cowher’s level of interest in returning to the sidelines. It looks like the debate can be put to bed.

This is all a little odd, considering Cowher reportedly told Newsday that he did see himself returning to coaching at some point. But it definitely doesn’t look like it’s happening now.

That tweet came from CBS PR dept, not Bill Cowher!

Bottom line: no one has any idea what’s going on…. probably because the individuals themselves have no idea what they’re gonna do.

Cowher explicitly said it, first thing, on the pre-game show.

  • Jimbo

LaCanfora also said earlier in the week that the Bears had interest in Kelly and that was quickly debunked, so I wouldn’t put too much stock in his Kelly report.

The Eagles may have already picked out their guy (in the playoffs this weekend) and they’re listening to all of these other candidates to get some outside opinions on what they’re doing wrong and where they should make changes – trying to see things that are trends and things that might be diamonds in the rough. Can imagine what these boards would look like if they didn’t meet with anyone the last two weeks. And, it’s not as if they’re offering the job to everyone who walks through the doors.
