Eagles Promote Rau, Place Menkin On IR

The Eagles announced today that they’ve promoted linebacker Ryan Rau to the active roster and placed offensive lineman Nate Menkin on injured reserve.

Rau (6-1, 230) was signed in the offseason as an undrafted free agent out of Portland State.

Menkin was claimed off waivers from the Texans in September. He had been inactive for the first 12 games. Menkin Tweeted about the injury yesterday.

Rau was a preseason playmaker. Course, so was Gilyard.

Rau was best player on defense in the preseason. Why hasnt he been brought up earlier. Its not like Akeem Jordaan has made a play. Atleast bring the kid up for special teams. Ive been waiting for this for weeks.

Yeah, so was I! rau won’t be Ray Lewis, but you can bet your ass, bthat he will play his heart out and leave everything he has out on that field…something you can’t say about the majority of the starting defense….Can’t wait to see the day that the Eagles have 3 great, playmaking, linebackers. Will I ever see that day? Draft Manti!!!!! If our 3rd best LB wasn’t Akeem friggin Jordan, I’m willng to bet we wouldn’t have seen such an extreme amount of nickel defense. We would still be in the nickel a lot, but not nearly as much as we were this year. Like I don’t understand..our. Ot so special teams made one friggin play all season…why hasn’t this kid been given an opportunity?

About time, they should be doing this across the board.
