Fletcher Cox Fined; Rolle Gets A Workout

The good news is that Fletcher Cox has not been suspended as a result of his actions during the Lions game. The bad news — for him — is that the rookie is getting hit in the wallet.

After review of the incident last week, Cox has been fined $21,000 for throwing a punch in the fourth quarter against Detroit following a Lions extra point.

“I got caught,” Cox said last week. “He threw a few punches but I retaliated and was the one that got caught. I talked to my agent and he didn’t think it was bad enough to get suspended but I will get fined for it, we know that.”

He was right.

In other news, former Eagles linebacker Brian Rolle had a workout with the Panthers on Tuesday, according to a source.

Rolle was released on October 2 and was replaced by linebacker Adrian Moten, who is no longer with the team. A sixth-round pick in 2011, Rolle started 13 games in his rookie campaign and ended with 42 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble return for a touchdown. The decision to release him was in part motivated by the desire to improve special teams.

Former Eagles defensive coordinator Sean McDermott is the DC for Carolina.

If the panthers are looking at Rolle to help with their tackling problems, then they must be worse off than i thought.

they are trying to replace jon beason

Sean McDermott is DC for now in Carolina, tho his days are numbered in Carolina. If my name was Rivera, I would also be worried about my job security next year. He’s being looked at for depth due to Beason going to IR

    • What Would Saracen Do?

Agreed, although I kind of feel bad for Rivera. He’s already put 3 elite players on IR this year (Ryan Kalil, Chris Gamble, and now Jon Beason). That will take a toll on even the deepest of teams. Newton’s regression though hasn’t been pretty to watch.

He isn’t in the plans with Carolina, they claimed Doug Hogue formerly of Detroit who is expected to contribute right away on special teams and provide depth at lb

trotter is my 3rd fav Eagle of all time, but he isnt the all around LB that Dameco is…look, the Eagles D is going to dominate Sundays game. Ryan always gets rattled in Philly, and their weakness happens to be the Oline…if the eagles D managed to show flashes of being a really solid defense, with a defensive numskull leading them…I expect anb inspired defense excited to have someone who actually knows what he is doing leading them. you think its a coincidence every defender is raving about how “proffessional” bowles is, or that he “knows what he is doing”…

All i know is that someone on the Offense better take out Dunta robinson for those hits on Djax!

how about a heavy dose of running the ball right at assante. would love to see Bryce put his head down and TRUCK him. let his new teamates scrape him off the turf
i liked rolle last year. He was our best blitzing LB…would be curious to see what he could do, under a Dcoord who actually knows a thing or two about playing defense in the nfl.
I think B graham, has earned more snaps! I also want to see Fletch at Dend if babin continues to be ineffective. Is it time to unleash Vinny Curry yet? There isnt a player on our team that wants to be an eagle more then that kid. stepping onto the linc under the bright lights for the 1st time, will definitely make him play like an inspired madman…I think now is the time, we could use that jolt against the Falcons! We will win this game, but Vick needs to stay away from assante. Then again, if Reid doesnt know how to attack assante, then exactly who does he know how to attack?
