Asante Takes Jab At Reid Over Castillo Firing

One person who voiced his opinion publicly soon after the Eagles announced Juan Castillo’s firing was Asante Samuel.

Here’s what he Tweeted:

The Eagles, of course, traded Samuel to the Falcons during the offseason. The second Tweet references an Inquirer story that reported Reid felt the cornerback was in steep decline, and that was a major factor in dealing him.

Samuel and the Falcons visit the Linc after the bye.

  • Samuel is right and wrong. Reid does take the blame after losses. It’s Samuel who never admits his weaknesses.

    • Gene I

I think that you, Scott J, are “right and wrong”. Andy Reid APPEARS to take blame, and Samuel never admits his weaknesses. The way Andy takes blame reminds me of someone that says they’re sorry over and over again, but never truly converts their behavior. Is he genuinely accepting blame, or is it a diversion?

      • Brian

I think Reid accepting blame is “coach-speak” most of the time. Rather than have his players get grilled in the media, Andy assumes the role of lightning rod. This may piss the fanbase/media off from time to time, but ultimately, I think the players notice and appreciate it, which ultimately benefits the team.

You can bet the guys screwing up are chewed out behind closed doors though.

  • Kimbafuzz

Asante sounds like McNabb after the Skins beat the Eagles that time and said the Eagles made a mistake. Okay. Time will tell on that one. But I do agree that Andy should be held accountable for placing Juan in that position.

  • Myke Lowery

Can’t wait till djax double moves him for a TD then crosses his arms and bobs his head.

  • Nancy

Assante was the “cancer” that Boykin referred to earlier in the year

    • zbone95

it was b. graham not boykin

  • johnnie walker

Fatboy (Andy) should just step down, i would have more respect for his non coaching ass.

    • Septhinox

Your point was valid except you calling him “Fatboy” causes us to lose respect for you. Are you a child?

      • jimbo

        Would fatman be better?

  • kw

Asante is right! Juan didn’t do a poor job…our three wins came from the defense holding the opponent to low points….And we shouldn’t have traded him

    • Nancy

What???? Are you crazy? Juan was in over his head and Assante was never a team guy…and now he’s just old.

    • Sensei

You are right about not firing Juan but Asante had to go

  • H-Town Manny

Samuel needs to shut up…you cannot tackle a fly….

  • Jared from Philadelphia

I think Mr. Samuel is just the only person saying what a lot of Philadelphians are thinking, it’s time for Andy to go.

  • snoopalot

You right Reid does admit his faults it was time for a change too many pro bowlers on defense bad move asante let coach do his job

  • Blvv

Not sure y they got ride of Asante, but under castillo non of the defensive players have been allowed to be themselves. Able to play their game. Looking foward to alil shake and bake. Get the D back in the Eagles defense. Go Big Green. Fly High!!!!

  • Ann

If Reid actually took the blame for our losses, actually took it instead of giving the company line at press conferences, he would change up a few things about his coaching. Reid has been given too many chances, this has been happening for years and he gets his shit together just enough to look good at the end of the year. Andy has to go. He doesn’t have control of his team. He’s not a leader.

  • Jeremy

I think Juan Andy and micheal Vick all need to part ways with the eagles, Juan Castillo can’t figure out a play they can stop a late 4th quarter drive, Andy Reid doesn’t know how to displine players when they are doing a terrible job (micheal Vick) and micheal Vick just can’t get the job done fumbles interceptions and turnovers aren’t doing us any good but as long as these 3 are here Philly isn’t going anywhere and I’m a HUGE eagles fan.

  • Jeremy

And Asante needs to shut his mouth and worry about his own team instead of what’s going on in Philly ever since this guy heard he was getting traded he just constantly wants to talk smack

  • Jimbo99

Samuel had a decline in Philly, couldn’t tackle and between those injuries and concussions. Maybe he was playing oppossum ?
