Report: Eagles To Release Hall, Brackett

The Eagles roster is beginning to take shape.

Wide receiver Chad Hall will be released today, according to multiple reports. Hall was thought to be on the bubble as the Eagles trim their roster down to 53.

With Mardy Gilyard also being released, there is a good shot that the Eagles go with five wide receivers: DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant, Riley Cooper and Damaris Johnson. It also opens the door for the possibility of the Eagles retaining four running backs.

With cuts coming down, running back Chris Polk had yet to receive any bad news as of early Friday afternoon.

Update: The team will also cut tight end Brett Brackett, according to the Inquirer’s Jeff McLane.

Looking good for Polk. A genuine short yardage back who will be active game day.

I have a soft spot for Hall, but it wasn’t looking good for him this year. I hope he gets picked up somewhere.

Good, now cut cooper and I will be less suspect.

I really like Hall, but he hasn’t played great this preseason. Last night he didn’t really make the plays he needed to, failing to come up with the ball on 2-3 fade routes. Sure, they weren’t easy catches, but a starter should be able to come up with at least 1 of them.
