Report: Eagles Expected To Release Hanson, Gilyard

The first twist of the day.

According to Adam Caplan, the Eagles are expected to release Joselio Hanson Friday.

Hanson has been running with the first team as the nickel cornerback all preseason. He was being pushed by rookie Brandon Boykin, who also is serving as the primary kick returner.

Hanson, entering his eighth NFL season, appeared in all 16 games last season for the Eagles, finishing with four passes defensed.  He was called “True Nickel” by Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie as DRC struggled to get acclimated inside. Hanson was released by the Eagles this time last year as well, then was re-signed to a two-year contract several days later.

Wide receiver Mardy Gilyard will also be cut, according to multiple reports.
