While the experience of getting a straight-razor shave almost always proves to be relaxing, the result often falls a little short, leaving behind stinging nicks and stubborn patches of stubble. Not so when the blade is wielded by Groom’s owner, veteran (and veteran BOP winner) Joe McMenamin, whose patience and skill leave a velvet cheek. Plus, the cool jazz and laid-back atmosphere are good for a bit of relaxation—which helps when there’s a stranger putting a knife to your neck.
