Several designs — and years — into the project, the father/son duo of the namesake Joseph Anthony Retreat Spa and Salon have finally opened their European-style oasis. Two floors offer suites of new-to-Philly curiosities, like the Alpine Herbal Steam room, where a mild hay-infused steam relaxes shoulders, and the Brine Light Inhalation room, where a saltwater fountain mists sinuses clear. Exotica aside, it’s little touches that make the place stand out: the complimentary foot bath, quiet halls, and attentive staffers who make you feel like you’re hundreds of miles away from Route 1.
