Philly has a reputation for losing its brightest rising stars to cities with bigger opportunities. But hometown girl Jennifer Carroll, chef de cuisine at 10 Arts in the Ritz-Carlton, proves that sometimes they bring their talent back home. After a five-year run at Eric Ripert’s Le Bernardin, Carroll jumped at the chance to helm his new outpost here. The chefs worked together to develop a Philly-flavored menu that Carroll executes with formidable skill. Dishes range from the unpretentious and craveable pretzel bites served with house-made dips to the sorts of elegant seafood preparations that have made Le Bernardin so famous. (Try the Pennsylvania trout in brown butter sauce.) Carroll could have landed a job almost anywhere. We’re ecstatic she’s back in Philly.
