Marra's Restaurant

East Passyunk Avenue has seen a dramatic revitalization in recent years. But in the midst of welcome new shops, bars and restaurants, there’s one place that should never change: Marra’s has been serving the same recipes for thin-crust pizza since founder Salvatore Marra arrived in Philadelphia from Naples 80 years ago. Today, his grandchildren helm the brick oven (the restaurant’s original, built from bricks imported from Mount Vesuvius), and the exterior was recently renovated, but the pies, with their slightly charred crusts and traditional toppings, still bring pure pizza nirvana.
