Best of Philly 2007: Small Concert Venue

Most small music venues are bare-bones at best — essentially boxes with crappy sight lines, crappier sound systems, and food limited to cardboard-dry soft pretzels and mystery-meat dogs. Not so at the delightful Johnny Brenda’s second-floor, two-story concert hall, hand-built by local craftsmen out of salvaged architectural pieces and finished with a primo sound and lighting package. Think lots of local bands (Man Man, Photon Band, Bitter Bitter Weeks) and touring acts that are way too cool for you. And the food is really, really good.
