Best of Philly 2004 Do-Good Store

In a city where recycling efforts enjoy a checkered past, this 18-month-old outpost in Port Richmond goes far to cleanse our sins of careless consumption. First, its owners, Lara Kelly and Linda Lee Mellish, renovated a tumbledown 12,000-square-foot knitting factory and turned it into a pleasant, sunlit space. Then they set out to fill it with salvaged architectural elements — 1930s glass tile, marble mantels, four-panel doors. The result makes for great browsing, whether you're in the middle of a renovation or just looking for a quirky object to dress up your space.
