A Monday phone call to Tacconelli's Pizzeria in Port Richmond won't get a live person on the line, just an answering machine telling you that the place is closed Monday and Tuesday and to call first thing Wednesday to reserve a pie for that night. Reserving pizza? It may be a gimmick meant to fuel desire, or perhaps it's true that there's only so much capacity in the brick oven. Either way, these garlicky, thin-crusted pies are on the mark. A favorite is the whie pie with spinach and tomato.
