Yup, it’s starting already, friends. The Broad Street Run 2015 race lottery will be held February 1st through February 13th of next year, according to a post on the race’s Facebook page today.
The Blue Cross Broad Street Run just posted a recap video celebrating its 35th anniversary, which includes lots of footage from the May 4th race. Can you spot yourself among the runners?

Ladies, if you ran Broad Street on Sunday, I’m betting you could use a pedicure. For one thing, your feet are probably destroyed and could use a little TLC. And for another, you totally deserve it. I mean, shoot, you ran 10 miles! Go you!
Luckily, our friends over at Shoppist rounded up the best post-run pedis at local spas, including a coconut-mango number, an anti-stress pedicure, and a hot-stone treatment for your feet (what?!). Check ‘em out. And if you want to go the DIY foot-fixing route, we’ve got tips for that, too.
When you’re on mile seven of a 10-mile race—i.e. when your legs feel like they might fall off, and you lost your hair-tie three miles back, and you’re pretty sure you might projectile vomit all over the runner in front of you—you just might need someone to remind you that you are a freakin’ sexy beast. Am I right? And this is exactly what one brilliant sign-holder did for all of the exhausted Broad Street runners who passed her. Check out that sign, along with more hilarious Instagram gems from this year’s Broad Street Run, below.
And say it with me: Thank God for spectators.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been called a virgin, but there I was, in my corral at yesterday’s Broad Street Run, doing something for the first time ever: this race—and any race, for that matter. Now that I’ve popped my Broad Street cherry (with the help of 40,000 others), I’ve learned a few things.
Here, my 10 biggest Broad Street lessons.
Calling all Broad Street Runners: After the race, before your rush to the nearest shower, you’re going to need to make a pitstop for some post-race fuel. And thanks to Sip-N-Glo, you don’t even have to think about where to go: The South Street juice bar has created the Broad Street Stomper Smoothie just for you.
The smoothie, packed with all sorts of deliciousness like spinach, pineapple, maca, banana, lemon, lime, cucumber, spirulina and hemp protein is designed to replenish runners’ insides after a morning spent stomping the pavement for 10 long miles. This nutrient-packed concoction will run you $7.95 and, as a bonus, Broad Street runners will get a free wheatgrass shot with their purchase—all you’ve got to do is flash your bib.
This just in, via a tip from our friends at Foobooz: The just-opened-for-the-season Delaware riverfront bar, Morgan’s Pier, will be handing out free beers to Broad Street runners on Sunday. All you have to do is show ‘em your bib. They’ll be handing out the freebies between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The time has finally come, friends: Broad Street Run weekend is here. And we come bearing race-day gifts! Here, we’ve got two full hours of pump-up anthems to push you through the race, from start to finish. (And we know, we know: Headphones are totally against race rules. But let’s be honest, have you ever seen a runner follow that rule?)
