You Can Join a Matcha Crawl Across Philly on Friday

First of all, if we had known “tea consultant” was a career option, we definitely would’ve made some different choices in life. But even though we can’t all be tea consultants, we can all hang in real life with Philly’s own tea consultant, Alexis Siemons, who’s got the scoop on all things hot and drinkable in town.

On Friday, Siemons is putting her expertise to good use by leading a matcha crawl across Philadelphia. What’s a “matcha crawl,” you ask? It’s exactly what you think: a beer crawl, for health nerds. Siemons’ version will include 15-minute stops at six Philadelphia cafes.

Throughout the two-hour tour, Siemons will drop some matcha knowledge from her ten years in the tea industry — how to pair it, how to cook with it, how to make a cup at home — so that by the time you’re done, you’ll basically be a mini matcha pro.

Stops will include: La Colombe, Bluestone Lane, Elixr, Double Knot, Rikumo, and Greenstreet Coffee Co. And if you can continue playing hooky at work a little longer, Siemons will also take you to Shot Tower and Menagerie.

The $18 tickets don’t include the price of matcha at each stop (Siemons recommends bringing a buddy and making them split each drink with you). However, the ticket price does include a parting gift of a Japanese bamboo whisk — which you can use to whip up a matcha batch of your own.

If you’re interested in attending, get on that RSVP ASAP — and we really mean it: Ticket sales are ending at 11:30 a.m. today, January 31. Happy matcha hunting!
