We’re SUPER Excited For These Philly-Area Gyms to Open in 2018

In with the new, amiright?

There are a lot of reasons to be excited when a new year roles around like, new beginnings (helloooo) and it gives you another chance to tackle those life-long resolutions. But the reason we’re super excited for 2018 to roll around is because that’s when these five boutique gyms and fitness hubs are supposed to finally land in Philly. From a huge indoor climbing mega-gym in Callowhill to a fancy, all-the-frills, flagship gym in Ardmore — our excitement is totally justifiable. Read on to see what 2018 will bring — in terms of fitness, at least — to Philly.

City Fitness

Where: Between 11th and 12th streets, Market East

City Fitness definitely had a growth spurt in 2017 with the openings of their top-of-the-line Fishtown and Logan Square locations — and the spurt will continue into 2018 with their Market East opening. As we told you guys last spring, this location will be nearly 27,000 square-feet featuring all of your CF favorites like standard gym equipment, personal training and group fitness classes with the addition of — drumroll, please — saunas and hydromassage beds for your post-workout recovery (and relaxation).

Life Time

Where: 6 East Montgomery Avenue, Ardmore

Life Time has made a mark on Philly-area fitness in the last few years, and their Ardmore location set to open in early 2018 will only contribute to the wave they’re making. The forthcoming Ardmore location, has been declared the club’s flagship location at 80,000 square-feet, full of premium amenities like LifeCafe for healthy snacks and fuel, a whirlpool, sauna, and steam room on top of all of their other fitness equipment, classes, and training. Plus, they’re throwing in a co-working space for good measure.

The Cliffs Climbing and Fitness

Where: 340 North 10th Street, Callowhill

The news of The Cliffs landing in Callowhill was big news for Philly climbers who have to trek to Northern Liberties or East Falls to get their climb on. The bouldering and rope climbing mega-gym, also featuring a full fitness facility, is slated to open in the fall of 2018 and we simply can’t wait. I mean come on, look how beautiful it is.

Blink Fitness

Where: 5597 Tulip Street, Wissinoming

So, 2017 brought the Philly-area our first two Blink Fitness locations (one in south Philly, one in Torresdale) which, if you aren’t familiar, is the no-frills and MUCH more budget-friendly version of Equinox, a sleek and sexy gym if we’ve ever seen one. Their third Philly-area location, in Willingboro, New Jersey, is opening December 21st but the fourth, Wissinoming location, is likely opening in 2018. The opening of these gyms is super exciting because you get the feel and amenities of a boutique gym, with a very affordable price tag — memberships start at $15.

Club Pilates

Where: Locations coming soon to: Bryn Mawr, King of Prussia, Exton, Newtown Square, Radnor, and Philadelphia

Because we can never have enough boutique pilates studios in the area, the expansion of the California-based Club Pilates to Frazer was a thrill. In an effort to give pilates a spin, Club Pilates offers Barre and TRX classes as well — boasting “surprisingly affordable” pricing. We can dig surprisingly affordable, amiright? These six locations are slated to open in the “very near future” so, likely within 2018.
