Last night, I couldn’t fall asleep until 11:30 p.m., and that’s like 4 a.m. in my world, which is filled with premature Grandma-like tendencies like going to bed at 8:45 p.m. on the regular. Why couldn’t I fall asleep, you ask? Well, because I was still buzzing from all the good vibes I soaked up at last night’s Be Well Philly Underground Sweat + Sip + Shop event with City Fitness and the lululemon Local Fishtown.
Last night, we teamed up with Fishtown’s new City Fitness location for a very sweaty Thrive workout followed by some rehydrating sips and shopping at the beautiful new lululemon Local Fishtown on Frankford Avenue. The workout, a larger-than-usual take on Thrive’s signature functional-training workouts, was, in a couple of words, groan-inducing. In a good way, you know? The awesome Thrive trainers split us into five groups to rotate through exercise stations like rows, high-knees, side planks, inch worms (these. Were. Killer), ladder drills, and more. I told you: It was groan-inducing.
After the workout, we hopped on over to the lululemon Local Fishtown, which, if you haven’t been, you should put on your bucket list. (Their aim is to be part store, part community hub, so they’ve got lots of cool community events on their calendar.) There, everyone got a shandy made with a Stripp’d Juice lemonade concoction and beer from our friends at Yards (I realize this might sound odd like an odd combo, but it was truly ah-mazing); there was a DJ playing tunes; AND — drumroll, please — all Undergrounders were treated to a surprise pair of shorts, on the lululemon Local Fishtown. Everyone also went home with a pair new headphones and one lucky winner snagged a speaker from our Be Well Philly Underground sponsor Verizon.
So, to recap: sunshiny vibes? Check. Spring cocktails? Check. A start on our new spring workout wardrobes (for free!)? Check. And a sweaty workout? Check. Yep: It was a GREAT Monday.
A big thank you to City Fitness, the lululemon Local Fishtown, Stripp’d Juice, Yards Brewing Company and our sponsors Independence Blue Cross and Verizon for helping us make this event happen. And claps for all you Undergrounders who traded in yesterday’s beautiful weather for an indoor sweat session! (We know that wasn’t an easy thing to do.)
If you are suffering from serious FOMO right now, make sure to sign up for Be Well Philly Underground (it’s free!) here. And until next time, you can live vicariously through the photos below.
