Psst: It starts tomorrow.

Raise your hand if you consumed the Missing Richard Simmons podcast the same way you consume, say, Sip-N-Glo’s Radiant Glo juice or any sweet treat from Cake Life (that is embarrassingly fast and with extreme delight, duh). Okay, if your hand is raised (I’m with you), you’ll be happy to hear that the folks at South Philly’s Bok building were so taken with the podcast that they’ve decided to put on a month-long free workout series in honor of the video-workout king himself, Richard Simmons. And it sounds ah-mazing.

Here’s the deal: Every Thursday of April at 6:30 p.m., starting tomorrow, April 6th, they’ll be playing an 80s workout video on the projector screen in the Boy’s Gym at Bok. Think: Richard Simmons’s Party Off the Pounds, Jane Fonda classics and more. There’s no need to sign up ahead of time; all you have to do to join in is show up at the gym — 80s workout gear encouraged — ready to follow along with the screen and get your sweat on.

We repeat: ah-mazing.

They tell us the videos range in time, but the average time investment for the workout series will be around an hour. And in case you aren’t familiar, the Bok building is at 1901 South 9th Street, and you’ll be using the entrance on Mifflin Street to access the gym. Happy partying off those winter pounds!
