Registration Now Open for This Sweet Relay Race Along the SRT

And we have a discount code for you!

Remember the Schuylkill River Relay 50K? To jog your memory, the relay race — in which runners tackle 31 miles of the beautiful Schuylkill River Trail in teams — debuted last spring as a part of Sly Fox’s SPREEKEND, a weekend that celebrates all things Schuylkill River Trail, with organized events from kayaking to cycling to, well, running (duh). The race ends at Sly Fox’s SPREEKEND party, complete with live music and food trucks, where they release their annual SRT Ale, a beer that benefits the trail.

If you were bummed to miss out on the race last year, good news: Registration for this year’s Schuylkill River Relay 50K — going down Saturday, April 22nd — opened at 10 a.m. this morning. And we’ve got a discount code for you!

The course (you can see a full course map here) takes runners from Saint Michael’s Park in Mont Clare along the SRT through Valley Forge National Historic Park and out to Conshohocken Brewing Company — the perfect cheering outpost, don’t you say? — where runners turn around and head back to Saint Michael’s Park for the post-race shindig. (Last year, post-race camping right off the SRT was even allowed!) The race can be tackled in teams of three or six (or alone, for all the badass runners out there who want to take on 31 miles solo), with relay legs between five and six miles long. The idea is that teams drive from exchange point to exchange point to cheer on their teammates. Warning: As the day goes on, the car will start to develop a, um, stench.

If you want in on this year’s race, do note that spots are limited to 250 teams. Registration will run you $89 for a solo runner, $144 for a three-person team and $219 for a six-person team until February 28th when the price jumps. The discount code BeWellPhilly will get you $10 off through February 10th. With registration, you get a finisher’s prize (a nifty baton) and a post-race SRT Ale.
