Cool! A Mobile Greenhouse Is Coming to Fishtown’s Riverwards Produce

This weekend, get an up-close look at how aeroponics are grown (and buy some, while you're at it!).

Living in a city like Philly, touring a greenhouse isn’t a normal weekend activity. But this weekend, Riverwards Produce — the new oh-so-cute (and always well-stocked) garage-turned-produce market in Fishtown — will have a mobile greenhouse on deck. Yes: A mobile greenhouse. Cool, right?

Here’s the deal: This Saturday, the folks from Aero Growing, a Gap, Pennsylvania-based aeroponics growing company, will be camped out with their solar-powered mobile greenhouse — stocked full of aeroponics like lettuces and herbs — at Riverwards Produce from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. People interested in seeing how aeroponics grow (or simply interested in surrounding themselves with some green for a few minutes) will be able to tour the mobile greenhouse and buy some salad-friendly produce straight from it.

Sweet, right?

If you want to check it out, just head to Riverwards Produce (1822 Tulip Street) before 3 p.m. on Saturday. And side note: While you’re there, you are going to want to get your hands on some of their cherry tomatoes. I bought not one, but two pints last weekend because they taste like candy and I have learned the very valuable lesson that one pint is NOT enough. Trust. (Just leave some for me, thanks.)
