If you’ve spent most of your summer glued to your beach chair, it’s probably time you got a quality sweat session in. After all, you’ve got to counteract a summer’s worth of beachside beermosas somehow. To point you in the right calorie-burning direction, we got five Philly fitness pros to dish on their favorite Shore workouts, from killer yoga classes to beach boot camps. Take your pick, soon-to-be-reformed beach bums.

The Pro: Running coach John Goldthorp, Fix Your Run
The Workout: Intervals at Ocean City High School track // The boardwalk might seem like the obvious running path, but Goldthorp avoids it: “The sun is relentless, and contending with oblivious pedestrians requires intense concentration.” Instead, he recommends running intervals on this seaside track, followed by an ocean dip to kick-start recovery. 501 Atlantic Avenue, Ocean City.

The Pro: Personal trainer Jayel Lewis, JL Fitness
The Workout: CarlyFit Beach Boot Camp // To sweat without stepping off the sand, Lewis suggests this boot camp held by Philly trainer Carly Rubenstein at Margate’s Huntington Avenue beach on Saturday mornings. You’ll tone up with bodyweight moves like burpees — no shoes or shirt required.

The Pro: Stand-up paddleboard instructor Jana Mars, Aqua Vida
The Workout: Adult group lessons with Hammer Surf School // Squeeze into a wet suit for these beginner-friendly group surfing lessons, held on Remsen Avenue beach in Spring Lake on Saturday mornings. Expect sore shoulders from paddling to catch waves and shaky legs from popping up on the board to ride them.

The Pro: Runner and juice queen Katie Rodger, The Juice Philly
The Workout: Yoga in the Vines with Golden Buddha Yoga // Rodger calls these classes “transformative,” but if the promise of stepping off your mat a new person isn’t incentive enough for you, know this: The weekly class, held in the vineyard at Cape May’s Willow Creek Winery, ends with post-savasana sangria.

The Pro: Nutrition guru and coach Juliet Burgh, Unite Fitness
The Workout: Yoga at the Zen Den yoga studio // Don’t let the name of this Margate yoga studio fool you into believing its classes are anything but killer: Burgh says Zen Den owner Arianne Green’s heated sessions are among the most intense workouts she’s ever experienced.
