Barre3 Studio Coming to Center City (With Free Pop-Up Classes All Summer!)

Barre junkies, rejoice: I just got word that Barre3, the Portland-based barre-studio franchise with over 100 locations nationwide, will be opening its first Center City studio this fall, bringing the count of studios to in the region to six, with other locations in Newtown, Doylestown, Rosemont, Berwyn and Allentown.

The Center City location will be helmed by a mother-daughter duo, one a current instructor at Barre3 in Rosemont and the other a current Barre3 Newtown devotee. The studio will be located on the fourth floor at 1500 Sansom Street and Stephanie Grimes, one half of the duo, tells us the large 3,800-square-foot space will feature two studio classrooms along with a locker-room area (complete with eco-friendly cosmetic supplies!), a private bathroom (with shower!), and a child care space. Grimes says you can expect lots of skylights and the typical Barre3 feel: Douglas fir wood, clean lines, and a white and light grey color scheme.

The studio is aiming for a November opening, and they plan to start with an impressive 30 to 35 of Barre3’s signature hourlong classes on the schedule each week. And wait! Before you cry tears at the thought of waiting four whole months to get your Barre3 on without driving to the ‘burbs, note: The Center City studio will be hosting free pop-up classes (yes: ANOTHER free workout class to add to your roster) all summer long. First off, they’ll be doing classes at Athleta on Walnut Street on Thursdays (8 p.m.) and Sundays (10 a.m.) through August. Then, they’ll also be hosting pop-ups in the same building as the new studio location; the schedule for those will be announced on their Facebook page once it’s set in stone.

Until they open, you can keep up with Barre3 Rittenhouse on their Facebook page and Instagram.
