Yoga for Runners: Where to Take Classes in Philly

Enhance your running skills with some downward dogs.

Running in the city has its difficulties. Weaving through groups of people taking up the entire sidewalk like a herd of migrating mammoths can get even the most patient of runners to snap. If this sounds like a struggle you know all too well, a break from the streets and some time on your yoga mat might be just what your workout routine needs.

Lucky for you, we’ve put together a list of the yoga classes around Philadelphia for runners looking diversify their training for upcoming spring races. The yoga classes and series below are designed for runners, targeting the muscles runners use most to strengthen them and help prevent injury — plus, getting a few oms in might help the next time you have to deal with a slow-moving herd of humans.

Where: Philly Yoga Factory, 1520 Sansom Street, Center City.
When: Mondays at 7:30 p.m.
What: Hot YINyasa for Cyclists & Runners

This Monday night class, taught by Justine Bacon, is a fusion Vinyasa and Yin, focusing on areas like the hips, lower back and hamstrings in order to lengthen and strengthen those muscles and tendons. Learn more here.

As an added bonus, if you sign up for all three classes, you get a fourth class of your choice free. Learn more about the series here.
