If you wandered along Chestnut Street between 17th and 18th this week, you might have noticed that something was missing: After five years at 1717 Chestnut, RowZone Rittenhouse has moved. Last weekend, the studio officially opened up shop two blocks away in a newer, bigger space at 2006 Chestnut.

“It’s exciting on many levels,” says owner Michele Czerpak. “The lease was up at the old location, and we needed more space.” And more space she got: The new second-floor space nearly doubles the studio’s size — from 1,300 square feet to 2,000. The larger footprint and less awkward layout meant Czerpak could bring in more rowers, too, adding four more machines for a total of 21.

RowZone offers 45-minute, all-out workouts on indoor rowing machines, with time on a mat for full-body toning exercises. (Note: The studio’s mats and resistance bands are also brand new.) They’ve been up and running in the new space since November 15th, but have kept the class sizes smaller to allow instructors to adjust to the new space (including the upgraded sound system). On Monday, classes will open to the full capacity.

The finishing touches, like installing mirrors, are still being completed. Eventually, Czerpak says she’d like to add a shower for a full gym experience.

She’s also in the process of adding a new class, Rowga, to the schedule, which is — you guessed it — a combo rowing and yoga class. “I’m looking for the right person to instruct it,” she says. (Hint, hint, Philly fitness instructors.)

If you’ve never tried a RowZone workout, now’s a great time to do so. Czerpak is offering Be Well Philly readers a sweet deal to get you in the door. You can score 50 percent off classes — so that brings a $20 RowZone class down to $10 — by using the promo code BeWell at checkout. It gets even better: There’s no limit on the number of classes you can buy, and no expiration date to use the classes. You just have to make your purchase by November 30th. Check out the class schedule here. (Pro tip: Brand-new rowers should sign up for a Skills and Drills class first, in which a trainer breaks down form and technique and gives you individualized attention to make sure you’re doing it right.)

“Everythings new and fresh. The energy in the studio is just amazing,” says Czerpak. “We’re excited to get people in here to show it off.”
