How to Do Yoga in a Bar (and Get Cheap Drinks!) Every Week

Twice a week, actually.

If bar yoga turns out to be winter’s version of outdoor yoga (so, cheap classes everywhere you turn), I will be very pleased. Kicking off the bar-yoga trend — er, what I hope will turn into a trend — is local yoga instructor Emile Sorger with a cold-weather yoga series called Soul on the Mat, happening at Brewerytown bar Sarah’s Place on North 29th Street.

The yoga classes, which will run you a $10 suggested donation per class, will happen at the bar every Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., starting tonight and running through January 13th. As the Facebook event for the series says, “In this yoga class for any and all, the body will become the scene of a great drama, a war between good and evil and an adventure for the hidden hero inside all of us … All you need are some stretchy pants, your coolest t-shirt and a set of arms and legs.” And to add to that list, some cash: After class, yogis will get $1 off their first drink.

You can find out more about the yoga series and RSVP here.
