Be Well Philly Workout of the Week: The 5 Exercise Workout

Five moves, 30 reps, one awesome workout.

This workout consists of five exercises — that’s it. Easy, right? Weeeellll, maybe not. You’ll do 30 reps of each exercise, rest for two minutes, and then repeat the five exercises two more times — with 30 reps of each again — with a two-minute break in between rounds. See how fast you can complete the workout while maintaining good form. Then, try this workout again next week and see if you can beat your time.

Good luck!

Burpees: Just like an up-down in football. Put your hands on the ground, jump your feet out behind you so you’re in push-up position, hit your chest to the ground, and bring your feet back in, stand up.

Sit-up: Lie on your back with feet on the floor and knees bent. Put your hands behind your ears. Without pulling on your neck and using only your abs, lift your shoulders off the mat and come to a full sit-up position. Lie back down slowly.

Plank row: In a push-up position with your hands on free weights, row one weight up and back, keeping your hips square to the floor and squeezing your shoulder blade. Lower and repeat on the other side.

Lunge jump: Position yourself in a lunge. Jump upwards switching the front and back legs. Once landed, repeat. For more of a challenge, hold the weights you used for your reverse fly during your jumps.

Mountain climbers: Get in plank position. Alternating legs, bring your knee into the chest, keeping your upper body strong. Extend leg and switch.
