I have no idea if Healing Arts Community Acupuncture timed today’s free acupuncture day just in time for the onset of Pope madness here in Philadelphia, but if you’re already looking for a means of escape — even just five minutes away from the security barriers, parking restrictions and tow trucks — this might be just the thing.

Beginning at 11 a.m. today and running until 6:30 p.m., the Rittenhouse community acupuncture clinic will be doling out free five-to-10-minute acupuncture treatments. (Treatments at this clinic usually cost $45.) Appointments are not necessary; they’ll be taking walk-ins all day long. The clinic is located at 2012 Walnut Street.

And lest you fear the needle prick, well, fear not. We sent a first-timer for an acupuncture treatment a few years back, and she had nothing but rave reviews.
