Run, Drink Beer and Catch a Comedy Show with Born to Run Author Chris McDougall This Week

It's going down on Thursday.

It’s shaping up to be a pretty fun week for Philly runners. Let’s see: We’ve got the Philly 10K coming up this Sunday, the just-announced 5K fun run with comedian Kevin Hart on Saturday, and now a run with Born to Run author Chris McDougall on Thursday.

The November Project’s Suzanne Allaire and Fishtown Beer Runners’s David April are helping to organize the event. According to the Facebook invite, McDougall will be in town this week to support of his friend, comedian and marathoner, Liz Miele, who is appearing at Helium Comedy Club on Thursday and Friday. The run, which leaves from three starting locations (more on that in a minute), ends at the one-night-only Mütter Museum Pop-Up Beer Garden at 19 South 22nd Street.

Here’s what you need to know about the starting locations: For the longest run — about eight miles total — meet Chris McDougall & Co. in Rittenhouse Square at the Billy the Goat statue at 5:30 p.m. A group will leave from there promptly at 6 p.m. to meet up with folks at the second starting location, 2346 East Susquehanna Avenue in Fishtown, where the Fishtown Beer Runners will join the fun. The Fishtown group will leave at 7 p.m. for a 4.5-mile run to the beer garden.

If you can’t make it to Rittenhouse or Fishtown, there’s another Fishtown Beer Runners group leaving from 7th and Bainbridge in South Philly, also at 7 p.m., for a four-mile run to the beer garden.

All the groups will converge at the Mütter Museum Beer Garden for a drink or two. Then, if you’re interested, you can head over to Helium at 21st and Sansom to catch Miele’s show at 8. Tickets for the show are $16. Phew! How’s that for a fun evening?

Check out the Facebook invite for more deets.
