Like beer? What about running? If you answered yes to both of those, you will certainly like this new running group, Philly Fun Run.

The gist: The group, helmed by local runner Jonathan Klein, meets up at a different bar every Wednesday at 7 p.m. They head out for an out-and-back run, usually between four to five miles in distance and, after pounding the pavement, runners cool down with some brews at whichever watering hole is on the roster that week. Since their first run a few weeks ago, they’ve ended up at places like Independence Beer Garden, the beer garden at the Oval and more.

The idea is to see as much of the city as possible, so if you plan on joining them, don’t expect to stick to one ‘hood week after week. And if you aren’t ridiculously fast or experienced when it comes to running, not to worry: As Klein tells us, “The goal of the group is to have a great time and meet new people. While some of us are marathoners, myself included, we are not competitive or judgmental about athletic ability and just want people to come out and make new friends.”

To get in on the fun, all you need to do is join their Meetup group. Klein sends out an email the morning of the run with all the route information, then you just show up and have a sweaty blast. Fun Run has groups in a few other cities, too — Boston, Portland, San Diego and San Francisco — so jot that down for the next time you make to any of those spots. Happy running!
