If you’re a foodie in Philly, summertime is glorious. Why? More open-air farmers’ markets, where you can get the best selection of local, seasonal produce around. You know the farmers’ market is the ideal place to purchase the freshest fruits and veggies, but do you know how to pick out the best peaches from the bunch?

Whether you’re an aspiring home cook or already a kitchen wiz, we’re guessing you’d be grateful for the opportunity to hone your produce-picking skills to get the best bang for your buck and the best sauce out of that tomato — I would! And lucky for you and me, Philly-based nonprofit The Food Trust is offering up guided tours of their Clark Park Thursday Farmers’ Market throughout the summer.

Approximately 45 minutes long, the free (!!) tours will feature expert tips about picking the best produce from each of the six farmers at the market, along with a cooking demonstration with samples and healthy-eating and money-saving tips from local health coaches.

The market is located in Clark Park in West Philly and is open on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tours are on the following Thursdays at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.: June 18th and 25th, July 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd, and August 13th and 27th. You can snag your spot for a free tour here. Happy shopping!
