The past month has been a bit of a medical whirlwind for 6 ABC meteorologist Cecily Tynan. In January, she took a tumble skiing in the Poconos and suffered a left ACL tear. She’s since undergone surgery to repair the damage, and has been working hard in daily PT sessions.

Yesterday, Action News ran a segment about her injury, surgery and recovery: “When Dr. [Robert] Frederick showed me the MRI and said, ‘You have an ACL rupture’ — you know, it’s gone — I think I started to cry because I knew I’d be out for a long time,” she says.

In addition to skiing, Tynan is an avid runner and water skier, and she loves indoor boxing classes. The ACL injury could leave her sidelined for up to a year.

“I know I have a long way to go,” she says, “but every day I feel like I’m taking a step toward recovery.”
