Where to Find Running Groups for #RuntoWorkPHL on Friday

Tomorrow, tomorrow! We’re running tomorrow! That’s right, friends—Philly’s inaugural Run to Work Day is just about here, and we are beyond amped.

Just a quick heads up that there will be a few running groups gathering tomorrow morning that are open to anyone who wants to hoof it to work en masse. The Run to Work Day team (oh, how official we sound!), along with some pals, will be leading four groups from various starting points around the city. We’ll be leaving from each of these spots at 7:45 tomorrow morning, to give everyone enough time to clean up and change before heading to the office at 9.

All groups will be running toward Center City and ending at City Hall. You are welcome to peel off toward your office building whenever you see fit, or run the full way with us. Your call!

If the stars align juuust right, perhaps the groups will arrive at City Hall at about the same time so we can take a sweet group picture. That’s what I’m hoping for, anyway! The running groups are open to all, and will be going at relatively easy paces.

The map below shows you where the four groups will meet up, but here are the locations and cross streets for your reference, as well as the name of each group leader.

South Philly Group: Meet at the playground entrance of Columbus Square Park on South 12th Street between Reed and Wharton. The group leader is me, Emily Leaman. (I’ll be wearing crazy-print running tights so you, um, can’t miss me.)

Northern Liberties/Fishtown Group: Meet at the Piazza at Schmidt’s. Group leader will be Jon Lyons of Run 215.

Fairmount/Lloyd Hall Group: Meet in front of Lloyd Hall along Boathouse Row. Group leader will be a fabulous person from Philadelphia Runner (they’re still hashing out who it will be). But you’ll be able to recognize them from the Philadelphia Runner shirt they’ll be wearing.

West Philly Group: Meet at Penn’s Franklin Field at the Fox Fitness Center entrance. Our pal Suzanne Allaire from the November Project will be leading. If you’re feeling extra fitness-y, feel free to get there early to work out with the November Project crew. They meet at 6:25 a.m. at the same location.

Those are the four official running groups, but if you’d like to man a pop-up group in your neighborhood (the ‘burbs are welcome, too!), email me or leave a comment below and we’ll add you to the map. Just let me know what time you want to start, and where your end point will be.

Let’s do this, you guys!
