Tell Philly Where You Want Bike Share Stations

It seems like just about every other big city around—D.C., New York, Chicago, Boston—has launched a bike share program in the past few years. So, where the heck is ours? Well, it’s coming guys: The Philly bike share program is expected to launch in the spring of 2015 (yay!), but before then, the city wants you to chime in on where you think bike share stations should go with a handy interactive map.

Here’s the deal: Right now, the map has 100 pins representing potential bike share locations throughout the city, chosen with population density, recreation, employment, bike lanes and space in mind. But that number needs to be narrowed down to 60, and they want all of us to help them weed out which locations are best, and which aren’t.

To give the city your virtual thumbs up or thumbs down on a location, all you have to do is click on the pin, answer a few multiple choice questions about whether you think it is or isn’t a good spot for a future bike share and BAM: your two cents has been collected. I just gave my input on a potential location near my house (yes, please!) and it literally took me less than 30 seconds. It’s that easy.

Commenting on the locations closes on October 20th, so go get your vote on before it’s too late, folks. If you don’t, I don’t want to hear any “Why, oh whyyy, did they put a bike share location there, of all places?!” complaints come Spring—you hear?
