Will the Schuylkill River Trail Near the Art Museum Be Closed During Made in America?

A reader wondered this morning on Twitter if the Schuylkill River Trail—the part that splits and goes on the Kelly Drive side of the Art Museum—would be impacted by closures around the Made in America concert this weekend. Here’s what we found out.

We called the Mayor’s office and learned that, as we suspected, the path along Kelly Drive at the Art Museum will, in fact, be closed to runners and cyclists when the Kelly Drive road closures are in effect. However, you will still be able to go around the museum on the south side, along the river, just fine. If you’re coming from Fairmount, you won’t be able to go in front of the Art Museum to connect with it. You’ll have to go down to Boathouse Row and around the Art Museum to get to the Schuylkill Banks. Make sense?

Here’s a map of the road closures for your convenience. Although some road closures are already in effect near the Art Museum, all roads that are slated for closure, including Kelly Drive between 23rd and Fairmount, will be closed to traffic (and cyclists, and runners) by Friday at 10 a.m. until next Tuesday, September 2nd, according to a press release issued by the city.
