If you’re one of those people who thinks running could be the greatest thing ever but doesn’t quite know for sure, because, well, you’ve never actually tried it, then we’ve got just the program for you: the Cedars House cafe’s fall Couch-to-5K training program, tailor-made for beginners like you, kicks off Saturday, September 13th.

The program might be aimed at folks who are new to the running game, hence the “couch” portion of the name, but you won’t be a couch potato for long: Over the course of the six weeks, husband-and-wife coaching team Andrew and Ricki Eisenstein will teach you how to tackle the trails of the Wissahickon—and a 5K, while you’re at it.

Every Saturday morning, the Eisensteins will lead a 40-to-60-minute group run through the Wissahickon, starting off nice and slow with walk/run intervals at the beginning of the series. Once runners have the hang of it, they’ll begin working on speed. On October 26th, once the six weeks of training is completed, the group will take on the Lupus Loop 5K together. Hence, Couch to 5K—see what they did there?

The series is $65 in advance, $75 when you register day-of and $60 for second-time participants. Email ricki@thecedarshouse.com to sign up.
